... rode steadily uphill, around 1 km at about 10%2525, whew! Lana was knackered at the top but I went on, another 500 meters at 12%2525 to the old castle. What a castle! Apparently it was the largest ever castle in Central Europe but was abandoned, blown up and generally fell into disrepair. But the authorities are gradually restoring this huge monument, it truly is a grand, old, medieval style castle complete with dry moats, drawbridges, etc. Had a quick ...

Then we had a long, long downhill through dark pine forest on said same road, scarier still as it was so dark and maniacal drivers wanted to pass us!!! The limestone cliffs each side were massive, but we could only just see them as they are covered in what looks like temperate ...

... of cognates (words that are related to or sound like their English counterparts). For example, "banán" (banana), "salám" (salami), and "citrón" (which is lemon, but it reminds me of citrus). However, there is a greater volume of words that have NO connection to English, and are much harder for me to recall.

I do feel as though I'm succeeding in my classes; my pronunciation ...

... history. I guess I just had to expect a Cathedral named after him somewhere. First built in the 12 century but once again rebuilt a few times and now of course Gothic. The associated museum was huge, well laid out and in English. Walked in thinking I wouldn't need a ticket but soon got told I needed one but it was free - even had $0 printed as the price. I went to leave it a couple of times but got hauled back each time and directed to another wing that they knew I hadn't ...
