A lot of Long Beach was under construction along the coast line so the beach itself was not in the best condition and of course we chose to go to the bit that was home to the local homeless population!

... the bus back to downtown. It was later than we hoped but we got off at city hall to go up to the observatory. Unfortunately it was closed, much to our disappointment. So we just caught up with bus tour and got off to get the metro back to the hotel. ... grand hotel anymore, as there were when we visited in 2011. I am glad of that too, as it just wasn't right! They have been relocated to a reserve about 15 min out of town apparently. ... whole pier and having a look around and then we sat down for lunch at bubba gumps shrimp. The whole experience was intense from start to end and involved getting quizzed about the forest gump movie by our waitress.
