Kay and I had visited Mystic on a vacation 20 years ago and really enjoyed ourselves, but for whatever reason, it didn't seem as much fin this time. Perhaps it was because Alex wasn't as interested in life in the age of sail as I am, and Kay was more willing to learn - I just don't know.

... amazing dinner view. Mystics centre was quaint with idyllic old buildings, a picturesque draw bridge, interesting little shops, good food and a surprising amount of places to get a drink. This all in all provided a great little rural escape to break up the copious amount of cities we had coming, so the next few days we hired bikes to explore, sampled more of the amazing seafood and enjoyed the local beer before we headed to ...

... because of how great it felt to be doing this by myself, and how much I enjoyed my own company and that of nature. Of course I wasn't really all alone....I always love blogging and connecting with folks in that way when I travel, so thanks to everyone who followed me, even if it was just here and there! If you ever get a chance to take off and wander by yourself for an extended period of time (or even a short period of time), I highly recommend it!
