... with cobbled streets again, and the buildings winding their way up, down and around, were all white. The highlight for me was seeing the little bay where Paul's boat took shelter in the storm (in the bible) all those years ago. I did a lot of walking that day - and talked to a lot of cats along the way (there would be 5 or 6 at a time).... but enjoyed getting out into the countryside. I couldn't get over the fact that most of the buildings in the towns we ...
Rhodes, Dodecanese, Greece pollies... as Manuel from faulty towers - only he got everything right, he did all the cooking (he was a bloody good cook!!)...
Koycegiz is a small village/town set on a lake - on the west coast of Turkey, inland from the Aegean Sea, famed for it's bird-watching and thermal baths.
I took a day-long boat tour the next morning (I unusually woke early, but that was more of a direct result of the ...
I was really overdue my holidays, finally getting to take it in October and I just signed up to two weeks of not doing much in Turkey with a couple of friends in a group. For me though not doing much isn't my cup of tea so I took every chance to re-live my old Turkey memories, from food, sights, sea, dancing and ahem, yes the men, again :)
Please come back soon as I update all the stories from the two weeks. Thanks.
Another beautiful day. Sunny 78 degrees on the island of Rhodes. We travel to Lindos half way down the island. To see the Acropolis were Paul spoke to the Greeks. A long climb to the top with a view to forever. Just outstanding. Back to the boat early to catch some sun by the pool.
I am going to upload a couple of pics from yesterday on Myconos to give you an idea of the beauty here.

There's Medieval castles in Greece? Who knew! We stopped in Rhodes enroute from Fethiye to Santorini, and got to enjoy the day in Rhodes town before catching the overnight ferry out. Coming into the port, there's a great view of their old castle, and we spent a lot of the day inside the "old town", exploring the Knight's Quarter, along with all the tourist shops.

Marmaris, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey juliecarol... buses. No oomph though! I could walk up the mountain faster than it (seriously). Anyways, got to Sulcuk about 5 pm. Stayers at Jimmy's place. Matt got his sleeping bag stolen off the bus. Just wandered around town, ate good Turkish pizza(flat oval crust with feta). Whole meal for 2 ppl $4. Looked at cool mosque.
Marmaris to Sulcuk., Turkey freyja580... will stand. The difference between the two is that the churches are still functional and the mosques, on the whole, are falling to pieces. One mosque that we saw was being steadied by timber supports and, were it not for these, I think it would have fallen down. One gets the feeling that the Greeks would be quite happy to let it fall down, were it not for the city being declared a World Heritage Site. I bought a guidebook from a souvenir shop and of the Ottoman occupation it starts "The ...
