... beach stretches for kilometres each way. The ocean glimmers between the many palm trees and is a light, inviting turquoise. Marvin and I both exhale the breath we had been holding – this is pure paradise. I am moving here! We scan the beach and finally decide on the palm tree that will be home for the next couple of days. Minutes later we are running towards the water and dive into the waves. Ahhhhhh ...
Mombasa, Kenya manic-trip... get the hell out of there! So reckon it's a time for some more fun............ By the way; the pictures are never in any order; I have to finish typing my blog and then I download 5 pictures (never anymore that's my limit for each entry); Travelblog then spins the photos around and weaves them into my entry randomely; so one minute I'm telling you some poor fella got his leg chopped off and you are looking at a picture of me falling off a camel ...
Ukunda, Zanzibar Archipelago, Kenya amandab9375... drugs - especially cannabis or 'dagga'. A lot of the street children are raped, nearly all of them by older boys or men who have drunk too much. There are no rules - we did exactly as we pleased. There's also a lot of fighting - I still have the scars here. Sometimes I'd sell fruit and vegetables at a local market. The Indians who ran it would give me food or clothes, and sometimes a bit of money. Thankfully, I never got into hard drugs ...
Kikambala, Kenya amandab9375... Ka Ka is half Ugandan and half Indian; they met 5 years ago when Marie's husband ran off with a local girl (she hasn't seen him since); she has finally obtained a divorce - as the authorities have no trace of him and consider that he's either dead or just doesn't want to be found; either way Marie and Ka Ka are very happy and every day is a struggle to keep their B&B up and running - as a thank you I'm going to help them ...
Mombasa, Kenya amandab9375... approched by very cute baboons, then the alpha male baboon turned up, for soem reason i had stayed in the van, i didnt like the look of him. He then decided to jump om the roof , and jumped through the open space looking down on me showing me his teeth, and decided to grab a loaf of bread from one of our bags, I was very glad when he left, as it was a bit scary at the time!! We were fortunate enough to see 5 lions, and 4 cubs. We ...
Mombasa, Kenya michelle02... in the Serengeti. It took us about half a day to drive the 300k's to the Mara and spent our first night camping outside, planning for the day ahead. We started off on the eastern side of the park and before long we were completely dump-struck by the herds that lined the plains of the park!! It has been described as "black-plains" and to be sure it was not far off that ...
Mombasa, Kenya dusted... from his back pocket. This stuff is a drug, i am not sure of the name but some one told us that it is more addictive than Cocaine... we were not very happy that he was chewing it. Then he sat down on the floor right infront of us. This left us with NO leg room at all plus his hands were roaming like cell phones. We are hoping it was acidental but we told Stallone, who was traveling with us. He came up to the front and said in swahili "who has been touching my wife". After ...
Mombasa, Kenya frogiedog... Europeans who had found local love in the small villages. Woman in their late 50's were accompanied by Rastafarian beach boys in their teens and old men had young nubile girls clinging to them, all of whom seemed to be in a win-win situation. I suppose the Mzungus get sex and 'unconditional love', and the locals get financial security and a trip to Europe every year. The fireworks on the beach were impressive and we joined in with our own bazooka fire crackers that were ...
Kikambala, Kenya dcm... the food looked pretty good though, but a bit expensive). The train is fine, if not a bit of a throwback to colonial times. The dining car (we went to have a look and a drink or two) has white-jacketed waiters and all the trimmings. The plates and cups are all china, and the glasses are glass - no plastic airline stuff here thankyou very much. We arrived in Mombasa on time and a friend of Rob's who lives in Kenya met us at the ...
Mombasa, Kenya colin... werken,
