    ... We’ve been privileged to see all sorts of bikes, going all sorts of hard, and many just tooling gently along, on cruisers and tourers. Only one idiot, and he was in a car.
    It may not be for everyone, but it’s a great way to see the country. And in these parts, its a big place and you are very small.

    ... So instead of beautiful countryside views, there was a pile of dirt and rubble. So onto plan B. A cheap ACSI campsite 10 km along the road. Far too many hairpins to count! But a fab place. The lake was beautiful and we were treated to the sight of many paragliders flying over us from one of europe's best launch sites for experts.     ... where we wanted to be (had been given a walking tour map by our Canadian friends) but not where we were. The bus driver aimed to be helpful but couldn't read the map. Another girl who didn't live in the area stopped and tried to help (how often does that happen – when you ask someone, they have just arrived in town themselves or live in another place?)

    I spent only a few days in my family in the Alps, but it was absolutely fabulous!
    When family and really good friends meet after not seeing each other for years, it feels so natural, like nothing has changed, we are just together, now, period.
    So, I did enjoy our time together, then, period. No Internet, no phone, no pictures. It was our time together and we loved every minute of it.
