Stayed here for a Week long Holiday after our university exams, nice place good food, it was an all inclusive resort, with fresh salads and cooked breakfast every morning, dinner ranged from barbe-qued fish to roast meats. organised trips down to the beach everyday and trips to the largets market in Fethiye. Also organised trips and tours around Kayakoyu 'the Ghost Town' altogether a fun relaxing trip cheaply organised by Thomas Cook.
... after some stubborn insistance that I have a hostel booked and I know where I'm going, someone gave me directions on where to pick up the dolmus (mini-buses that run short distances - ie/ from the Otagar to town and back) and I flagged one down and took the 3km journey to the other side of town for the hostel.
I was put in the only dorm room and bumped into Tonielle, an Aussie girl that I'd met in Eceabat (Gallipolli ...
... as Manuel from faulty towers - only he got everything right, he did all the cooking (he was a bloody good cook!!)...
Koycegiz is a small village/town set on a lake - on the west coast of Turkey, inland from the Aegean Sea, famed for it's bird-watching and thermal baths.
I took a day-long boat tour the next morning (I unusually woke early, but that was more of a direct result of the ...
As soo as we got there, the storm picked up even worse, and we ran into the nearest bar for shelter. It lasted about a beer and a half and must have dropped 10 million gallons of water onto the beach. Fortunately, after the storm the sky opened and it turned into a beautiful day. We strolled along the rocky beach, along with a thousand other tourists--all british. One curious thing about the British--they ...
Fethiye, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey tommcatt... the whole ride up. Our bus was waiting for us to get to Fethiye, we said our goodbyes again and started loading up our bags, so did Katie and Sam. We just couldn't get rid of them. We were to spend the next hour or so on the next bus together. Oh I'm sure they were glad they didn't miss that bus ride, between the cackling of a babies cries which while extremely annoying were hilarious at the same time, and the three kids in front of us with motion sickness it made for another interesting ...
Fethiye, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey dinoshona... find a dining area just off the kitchen in the villa. Then there is usually a sitting are and television. Most villas in warm climates have air conditioning downstairs or fans to keep the villa cool. If you are staying in a holiday villas with a pool, the swimming pool will usually be at the back of the villa. Most have patio doors leading out straight onto the swimming pool. This pool deck area may be made of concrete or tiled ...
Fethiye, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey fethiyerental... mainly Turks. Not many foreigners came here. Perfect, I thought. He encouraged that I check out the lounge area. So I did. It was quite amazing. The lounge area was pretty big. Enough to fit about 30 picnic tables and several hammocks. I walked around and many guys looked like Turkish Rastafarians. People were just smoking, drinking, and reading. They were pretty much just chilling out waiting patiently for the day to go by. As the guy said, there werent many ...
Fethiye, Turkey dinovagabond... unspoilt. We were virtually the only people on the beach, and the light was intermittently grey with cloud, then bright with peeping sun. There was very little wind, and the water had the incredible turquoise blue hue that is so alluring. The setting amongst the mountains is just quite extraordinary. From there, we drove into Fethiye, about a 25 minute drive until we were able to find a room at the Yacht Plaza ...
Fethiye, Turkey familyhirsch... an entirely crazy idea due to the traumatic way many of the inhabitants were forced out. The bones of many of the former inhabitants are buried behind one of the main churches in the town. Back at the Pansion rather late, we nevertheless managed to consume a number of bottles of wine, enjoy grilled meat and delicious mezze before retiring for good. We were kept company by the number of cats, kittens, two dogs, flying ants, mosquitos, chickens and roosters!
