... dark wood and high mildewed ceilings in the old part of town. My room was guarded by two mannequins dressed in traditional clothing. They didn't freak me out at all. ... Perge experienced two golden ages, one Under the Hittites in the 2nd and 3rd centuries BC and the other under the Romans in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. The area is undergoing extensive restoration works and is now protected by UNESCO. Although only a remnant of its former glory, it was easy to imagine the once thriving city with its bustling market place, the public baths and gymnasium and long colonnaded roads once paved with mosaics.

... back to the Hotel where we Chilled out further. We had to be back at the conference room tonight for a dinner/ball thing, we eventually got ready and most showed up, but some couldn't as they were really sick which was a shame as it was another great memory. ... That night was the much awaited expedition to the Chimeara or as commonly known, the flames of Olympus. Homer, in his Iliad and Odyssey spoke about the Chimeara all those hundreds of years ago. The 6 of us donned our hiking boots, (except for me in my slipslops) attached our "kopligte" and headed for the trek up the mountain!!! Jeez, I wont lie, it was QUITE a climb!!!
