... likely to see, hes so friendly and takes time to introduce all the guests to each other which certainly helps break the ice. The old building has been un-effortlessly turned into a chilled out hippy/student flat, Howard makes everyone feel right at home and his energy enthusiasm and local knowledge is infectious.
Talking to fellow travelers Singapore didn't seem to far away, Melaka doesn't really impress on fist inspection so we were ...
... spoke to on several different nights.
During the film, the nice Indian man that had advertised Sunny's Inn to us at the bus station, turned up. He sat down with some whisky and soon got as drunk as Zen. They were great! So funny and ******. It was great too, because they were always so professional during the days, when they weren't bladdered. The Malaysian-Indian guy was the Malaysian version of Mo! Especially when he was drunk. He spoke ALOT and incredibly slowly ...

Malacca City, Melaka State, Malaysia senorbrian... Sweet Marinad crust wth a peanut dipping sauce that had me ordering seconds. The city itself is good for walking. I was there for less than 24 hours but covered alot of the old part of tow, split between the narrow street of old Chinatown and the retail district. Big malls that have really good air conditioning. As an aside, I am broud to say that with my clothes on, I am coming in at 167 with 16% body fat or so says the Tenaka fat analyzer machine being ...
Melaka, Melaka State, Malaysia donmiller... that was mentioned, I'm talking about slitting your bottom lip and inserting a bigger and bigger wooden disk until it protrudes by many inches. I'm also talking about teeth filing and extracting so people didn't resemble animals, scarification, the long necked women of both Africa and Asia, feet binding in China and head deformation to name a few. My teeth wee killing me by the time I'd read all about the ...
Melaka, Melaka State, Malaysia gayled... originally, I like to try new things and this one really surprised me. I am not sure that I have even had black current before and I definitely never ate or drank aloe in anything previous to being in Malaysia. Since first trying it however, I have had a can of it every day (or apple and aloe, also very good). After a short wait we were greeted by Howard, one of the partners that run Ringo's Foyer. Howard introduced us to a few of the guests that we ...
Melaka, Melaka State, Malaysia aaronpolarbear... At the guesthouse, they called their resident taxi driver called Albert, to take me to Melaka Sentral. As soon as I got in I was warned he was talkative, and he subsequently spent the next 20 minutes until we arrived entertaining me with his portfolio of different accents and impressions - his favourite being when he squeezed his nose and made the sound of a baby laughing/crying/talking! At the bus station I went to a counter and got a ticket for a bus to Singapore ...
Melaka, Malaysia becpowell... after the Brits laid it to rubble out of fear of the Chinese using it to gain a foothold during some scrap we had with them during Queen Vic's reign. In fact, we made such a job of smashing the **** out of the 150 year old walls that all of the fort would have been removed if it were not for Sir Stamford Raffles stepping in and saying "hang on chaps, lets leave them one gateway, just for posterity." I don't know if those were his exact words, but I imagine the arrogant xenophic imperial ...
Malacca, Malaysia tjwanderer... bar. He gave us discounted drinks and he was there playing live music. He was singing all the classics like alice, hotel califiornia and so on. He was really good aswell. The whole pub was singing along. We left at 7am the next day and Howard gave us a lift for free to the bus station which was about 1/2 an hour away!!! We spent a couple of nights in Singapore before we left asia to fly on to Australia!!
Melaka, Malaysia ravntina... including an English guy who I spent the next morning hanging out with, looking through some of the local markets and the usual shrine and church type efforts. Despite originally intending to spend a couple of nights here I soon realised that I'd seen most of what the town had to offer. I also had to meet my brother in Kuala Lumpur over the next couple of days so I decided to head off and jumped on the afternoon bus to the capital.
