I had two objectives in pekanbaru.
One, to find a kris manufacturer and to pick his brains. After at least a dozen enquiries I conclude there; is very little english spoken in town; kris now means any sort of knife; and there is no craftsman in town. And not any local interest either. But it does make you wonder what would happen if you (or a monkey) actually pushed it.
I'm not going to find out.
Plus - look at this interesting drink. It wasn't mine (I stuck to Coke Zero). Sweat in a can?
... Didn't buy any copies of copyrighted movies. But those that are in the theater now are on DVD within days. And they only cost between $1-2.
Did get a photo of 4 people on a scooter, although it is fuzzy. Didn't see any 5's on this trip yet.
Had a late lunch at one of the hotels - had a change of pace on the food as well.
