... as we drove by. Everyone was exhausted and needed a break too, he said. I was the only tourist he knew of that was here. I think there were people from places nearby, but not from further afield. I was beginning to wonder at the wisdom of coming here at this time of the year.... but I was happy to be able to meet the locals rather than vie for standing room among hordes of tourists. When the boat departed from Koycegiz I was the only person on it - aside from the driver/captain and his mother (who was also the cook; the waitress and a better skilled sailor/navigator than her son who on the way back, slept at the back of the boat while she steered!!). I was on my own for an hour as we sailed out ...

6 ladies, two men, two weeks, only 1 Turkiye!

I was really overdue my holidays, finally getting to take it in October and I just signed up to two weeks of not doing much in Turkey with a couple of friends in a group. For me though not doing much isn't my cup of tea so I took every chance to re-live my old Turkey memories, from food, sights, sea, dancing and ahem, yes the men, again :)

Please come back soon as I update all the stories from the two weeks. Thanks.

Layed Back

Another beautiful day. Sunny 78 degrees on the island of Rhodes. We travel to Lindos half way down the island. To see the Acropolis were Paul spoke to the Greeks. A long climb to the top with a view to forever. Just outstanding. Back to the boat early to catch some sun by the pool.

I am going to upload a couple of pics from yesterday on Myconos to give you an idea of the beauty here.

Day trip to Rodos

There's Medieval castles in Greece? Who knew! We stopped in Rhodes enroute from Fethiye to Santorini, and got to enjoy the day in Rhodes town before catching the overnight ferry out. Coming into the port, there's a great view of their old castle, and we spent a lot of the day inside the "old town", exploring the Knight's Quarter, along with all the tourist shops.

A nice little break on a long journey.

After a quick breakfast, we headed off to the port to catch our 9am ferry to Rhodes, but it looked like everyone else in Fethiye had the same idea. The boat was full of those annoying package holiday makers on a day trip to Rhodes.

After a rough ride, we bought our tickets to Athens (Rhodes to Athens €53 each, one way) and had the whole day to spend in Rhodes before our next ferry departed.

... joke throughout the day was the grandeur and splendor of Mary's house. So then we tackled Ephesus, which is an amazing collection of ruins. This was the first site we have seen that was actually crowded (cruise season started a week ago), so that took some getting used to. However, the ruins were in spectacular condition and were a great hybrid of Greek and Roman planning. My favorite part of the city was the library façade that had been reconstructed. By the way, it was only $7 to ...

Goodbye Europe

... checked e mails. Freeserve had responded to my request for help and had offered me an alternative phone number to access their ISP server. They said that if this didn't work, in a nutshell, I was stuffed. I tried it later on. It didn't.

I had a quick look at the news and was surprised to discover that Corfu is in the headlines. It said that the fires currently burning are the worst in memory and there are simply not enough fire fighting resources to deal with them. It said ...
