Over the Avon Gorge is the Clifton Suspension Bridge, also designed by Brunel, and opened in 1864. It still takes two lanes of traffic, so we paid our 50p, drove over, then walked back across it, which was very exciting. It is 75 m above high water level and is an amazing engineering feat. The Gorge itself is spectacular. We are so lucky to be able to see all these famous things.
