Ohh, Ohh Mexico! I love our Southern neighbor. I've been to border towns a few times throughout my life, but I have never seen the Caribbean. It was so wonderful and beautiful. And I will never forget it, hopefully!!
I took my 6 year old. From the airport we drove to Chichen Itza (about a two hour drive and a lot of pesos too) where we stayed at the most grorgeous hotel, the Hacienda something or other. The rooms were huge and cooled ...
... drive day for us, we pulled into St Vrain State Park. The anticipated cold front arrived here on Thursday and it got down right chilly on Friday night. The highs have been in the 20's and we got about 3 inches of snow. The good news is that it is much colder in South Dakota and Nebraska so we made the right choice to come to Colorado ...
Longmont, Colorado, United States thesairs... is where I believe all of Asia's shopkeepers come to buy clothing and items for their shops. And they were all there today. If there was a open patch of cement, someone put up an EZ-up canopy and was selling something. Crowds of people pushing, walking in the roads, tuk tuks and cabs trying to drive, honking, police whistling, shopkeepers yelling--it was complete chaos. The cars, scooters and tuktuks drive so close to you that ...
Windsor, Colorado, United States sherrywirtz... we are on our way towards Denver Colorado. We left at 9:30ish and have been on the road since. It is currently 5:30. We have made two fuel stops, one bathroom stop, and one food stop (near Casper). I am not sure what time we will arrive or where we will stay, but I am sure we will figure it out; we always do. You might be wondering why we are going to Denver. Janis got an email from the German/American Chamber of ...
Loveland, Colorado, United States flyingfonteins... on my training schedule and no one seems that interested in going with me. All in all I lack inspiration. (Sigh)
So if it does not happen this summer it will happen eventually, is usually my excuse when I lack inspiration. But I am not going to use that statement this time around.
But I have to work the hardest I probably ever worked to get this done. I have to pull passion from my mind ...
... Whenever our paths converged we met in stride. Our common ground was deeper than our experiments. Years later, when I lived in California, I occasionally flew home to see my family. I usually needed some time to adapt and find a common ground with them. Whether it took ten minutes or three hours I had to consciously acknowledge that my family had their ways and I had mine and that it's okay for it to be that way. Looking back, I see that it was my way of dealing with being ...
Fort Collins, Colorado, United States hodizzle... to see Tim McGraw at the Greeley Stampede -- she bought the tickets as a Father's Day present. She'll spend the night here tonight and together we'll take Dori to Sherri's tomorrow. Bill and Mallory are probably preparing for their trip to San Francisco on Thursday. Tomorrow is my last day as a CSU employee!!! I picked one of Caila's pictures from the retirement reception for the site (somehow don't seem to have any close-up pictures of myself). Hard to believe ...
Fort Collins, Colorado, United States neeterbHello and welcome to my travel blog! My starting-four-months-late travel blog!!
I will disclose up-front that I began my travels in May but am beginning my blog in October.
Basically, I blame this tardiness on grad school. My natural tendencies lean more 'lazy and irresponsible' than 'productive and timely.' Graduate school forced me to suppress these natural tendencies and do stuff-- a lot of stuff-- all the time. Specifically, a lot of reading and writing. Normally ...
Hello and welcome to my travel-blog! This is my last full day in Colorado. Tomorrow I go home to Georgia, which I am considering the beginning of my travels.
I'm a little nervous. Not about the trip...it's hard to explain. I'll be gone for over 2 months, not all that long really. But I've come to understand that where I am in my life, for better or worse, is a consequence of my decisions. I've consistently chosen adventure over intimacy ...
... bars, but Brian had a gift card as well. So after $15, a couple bikes tubes, some wood glue, and duct tape, and a little inginuity we now have a galvanized steel roof rack. The Suburban is great, holds 5 people and plenty of gear and we don't even need to be efficient in the packing multiple times a day. And it makes a great lawn chair.
