I got on better with Nicky who had been a PA for the director of a property company in Liverpool for seven years until she recently split up with her partner and returned to Frinton-On-Sea. She is looking for a change of career and thinking of teaching. She has already spent some time teaching English at summer schools for foreign students in the UK and is hoping to gain more experience here.

... New Year. Throughout the day we had heard the occasional spluttering of firecrackers but that was about it. Quite a few of the businesses in the town did appear to be closed though. Along with others, my usual banana pancake stall had disappeared. Traditionally people travelled to be with their families at New Year and so I guess that was where they had gone. There also seemed to be an increase in the number of Asian holidaymakers in town.
