      ... town seemed a lot quieter on Thursday night. Nicky and I dined at the Gold Elephant and then treated ourselves to banana pancakes from one of the street stalls. Ian and Barbara were having an early night and the large group of tsunami volunteers who habitually gathered at Ska Bar had dwindled to just a handful. In the end Nicky and I retired too.

This didn’t seem to be a particularly good plan as she told me she had had next to no customers yet and risked having all the bamboo massage beds pulled down at any time by the police. She was an amusing and chatty lady and she must have been very bored as my massage lasted an hour and twenty minutes.

      ... things work but not 100%.The shower alcove has a tree coming up through the floor and continues up through the roof, however, the hole in the floor to allow the tree through is also a drain for the shower water, there is a proper drain but it slopes the wrong way, a little "Fawlty Towers".
