... me prevented such intentions. Luckily, there were a few of our party who waited (a little while) for me to catch up.
Such a great hike; 4-5 hours later. My feet hurt a little and my knees from the downward hike, but I was surprisingly pleased with my fitness level. Everyone in our hiking party was rather fit, and I expected to hold them up with my photos and shortness of breath. But no, those morning hikes and hours at the gym paid off. Go me!

Passage to the Islands

International Ferry Terminal goes to Jeju, Domestic to the islands with the Train station in the middle and the Bus Terminal 20 mins out of town (take bus 1 from same side as train station). Met 2 Germans who were staying in the new part of town, me in Scumsville. Total number of westerners since leaving Seoul = 3.
Next stop Imja-Do (Do= Island) for my first Korean Couchsurfer.

Kimchi Festival Time
... first - predictably a large new building. Now Kimchi is basically fermented cabbage and somewhat of a national dish. Amazingly we stayed at the festival all day
- we did the 'foreigners cook a Korean Pancake'; Liz's tossing impressed
- 'foreigners make Kimchi' - along with more photos & interviews and the 'result' in a container
- the food stalls
- a tourist survey with seaweed as a reward (they need to learn from that)

Crazy Crazy Times
... my Spanish. Then, out of nowhere, a Korean man came up and asked us if we were having a problem. It was so rude of him to assume that the street vendor was hassling us just because we were talking to him. This is not a culture that is particularly opening to foreigners, especially those who are darker skinned.

Dog Days
... straight early on in this blog. Although personally I would not touch dog meat with a very long chopstick due to my own beliefs that a dog is a pet and companion, it would be hypocritical for me to condemn the consumption of dog meat in South Korea. I am after all not a vegetarian, I enjoy a steak every now and then, I like chicken, bacon and sausages. It's not my place to decide what animals a country should be allowed to ...
