      ... which takes you over Mt Aspiring and several of the 100+ glaciers in the vicinity, before descending along the ancient glacier-torn river valleys. There is a helicopter that drops you to a walk trail, which upon completion, you are picked up by a jet boat for the journey back. Due to the weather yesterday, both the helicopter and plane are busy and fully booked. We can however jump onto the near-empty jet boat for a run upstream for a pick up at 1:00 pm. Due ...

      ... heavy but with our heavy duty raincoats on; we stay warm. Our hats over our helmets which have come in so handy during the warmer days, are helpful when it's raining as well. Tina prefers not to wear sunglasses when it's overcast and the hat visor keeps the rain off the face. Our first stop is at the 25 km mark at the Roaring Billy Falls.       The 16th saw the beginning of our Routeburn tramp! (tramping is the kiwi term for hiking over large distances). We had moved North from Queenstown to Glenorchy where we camped at the start of the Routeburn track, giving us a good start for the walk this morning (having got our backpacks hurriedly packed in the dark the night before).
