      First stop Auckland, where we caught up with my sister's fabulous friend who cooked us a delicious lamb dinner, unfortunately Simon wasn't 100% and he couldn't manage to eat his favourite meat, boy was he gutted.       We were expecting a considerable amount more 'up' on our journey to Queenstown given that it is where the snow was supposed to be and therefore where the skiing would be found.       ... The sign said 2-4 hours but we were a little leery of that after yesterday’s adventure. It was a very nice track. After 20 min we hit a pretty creek. After another 20 min we reached a narrow mining tunnel that allowed water and the rock mined nearby to flow into the 12 mile creek.
