Sunday 13 March, Franz Joseph to Wanaka

By 6.30am we were up, had breakfast, and were on the road to the Franz Josef Glacier, so we were the second car in the car park (and the other guy stayed overnight). We walk up the glacial river valley to nearly 700m from the end of the glacier. Bluish ice-cold water rushing down the river with …

From Wanaka we headed through Queenstown and onto the quaint little village of Glenorchy for a wander around town, down to the lake and for a spot of lunch before continuing another half
hour onwards to Kinloch where we stayed for a couple of nights in a small lodge which seemed pretty much in the middle of nowhere! The road from Queenstown to Glenorchy is a really great drive, amazing views along the twisty road, even from ...

... tour in Paradise. Grandpa did not stop taking photos of me. Grandma wanted to take photo with me, after that all the family wanted it too. The Caples Walk was beautiful, even I was walking in a circle one time (so it took more time) and got lost once. But when I followed the river I found the right way again. The Lake Rere Walk was a dream. It went through mountains, valleys, meadows and ...
