    ... side of life. We have opted for a bike tour, mainly as a safety net. Don't need to put my one lunged wonder at risk of anything. So we basically bike our way from north to south having a few days at each end to wind down and relax together before again parting ways for a wee spell.

    When planning the ride, Dave thought that a rest day after 'conquering' the Haast Pass would not go amiss. It was with so much pleasure that we could sleep in. Upon waking, to lie in bed watching the sun and shadows upon the mountain at our doorstep, until finally wandering off to the cafe for breakfast (or is it brunch). So what to do?     River deep, mountain high... The plan is to get up at 5.30 am and leave by 6.30 so we have plenty of time to tackle today's 80 km ride which includes the Haast Pass. What actually happened... The anti cyclonic storm predicted to come through from the south of NZ through to the north last night didn't eventuate until five this morning.
