Almerimar Almerimar, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands
I am on my way to Cabo de Gata from Granada. I, as usual, didn't do diligent enough research and so ended up in Almeria with a 4 hour layover. Normally I would be ecstatic about this as that is plenty of time to drop my bags at the station, roam around on a city bus and get a feel for one more Spanish city. However. Almeria doesn't believe in baggage drops at the station. In an "I am Josie. I am American." moment, I walked to a hotel to leave my bags there. No. Neither being ...
Almeria, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands josiezim... and never did get us to the park. By this time we were pretty well done with this area. It was getting late, we never did make it to the park so we decided to cut our losses and head back to Burriana Beach. We decided the only thing that could salvage the day was if the Thai restaurant was open. We got back at 8:45pm and hooray it was open. We had a great meal with some good wine and stayed a good while chatting with the owners and another couple from Holland and France.
Almeria, Andalusia, Spain stacicheckWoodlice on the face. That was my wake up call. And people complain about alarm clocks. Very tired now.

Pretty standard day though. Funny bit was when we were on the beach and instead of finding a bin we put our melon seeds in a hole we dug in the sand. At this point a crazy Spanish lady started ...
Castell de Ferro, Andalusia, Spain chris_jones01... it turned into sand and stones. We could barely walk the bikes. This seriously slowed us down. Whats worse is that it meant that we ended up on the grotty outskirts of Almeria as it got dark. Desperate for a place to sleep we went to check out under a motorway bridge. Whilst we were down there we saw some kids needlessly kill a goat with rocks and sticks. Not a great site to be honest. I still thought it would probably be alright to stay. They were only kids after all. Quote ...
Almería, Andalusia, Spain chris_jones01I decided to rent a car for my last couple of days at San Jose, so took the bus into Almeria. Although there is an excellent integrated bus/train station there, Airport buses go from elsewhere!! So I went looking for the bus-stop, found a man who directed me half-a mile down the road. As I walked to the bus-stop, the Airport bus went by! Got to the bus-stop and had to wait 45 minutes for the next one. It's first stop was just by where the man had directed me... so I'd ...
Mini-Hollywood, Burgundy, Spain travellerbruce... gratis bekijken.
Almerimar, Spain psteerenberg... leaned over and simply said, "Atlantic crossing?" Almerimar is a small coastal town that seems mostly populated with Brits. The boat harbor is the biggest we've been in, but every third boat or so is listed for sale. I guess the Brits sail here and then decide cruising is not for them. I'll bet someone could make a very good deal buying a boat here. The pilot book tells about the acres of plastic that can be seen from the water and we have a close up view here ...
Almerimar, Spain questmiller... and that they can be miles off the coast. We threaded ourselves safely through (while sailing 7 knots) and took a big breath of relief. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures because we had all eyes scouring the surface for the next group of floats. We don't want to do that again. When we arrived in Cartagena, we were greeted by yet another dock angel who helped us to tie up securely. These angels are such a ...
