    Good Overnight Stay

We stayed here for one night in May 2014 as part of our planned Canadian Rockies tour. We had originally planned to stay here on the way back from Jasper but had cancelled that leg of the holiday and stayed additional nights in Banff but still wanted to stay here, for the experience.
The weather was still cold and there was some overnight snow high up so we did not encounter any problems with no air con. The heaters worked fine. We chose the lodge because we were self driving and wanted somewhere with breakfast, wifi and laundry so we could keep in contact and also wash clothes and minimise the amount of meals we needed to purchase.
The Mountaineer Lodge fit the bill nicely for us and we had no complaints and based on our experience would stay there again and recommend to others.

Lake Louise is an iconic Rocky Mountains location and its views are world famous. We were there in May 2014.

We had seen the lake, the village and the Fairmont Chateau earlier in the week as part of a tour of the Columbia Icefields with Brewsters and were glad to be quite familiar with the area.

Daarna doorgereden …

Very conscious we are a few days behind so i thought I'd publish a short piece now and the other four howarths can update it and add to it over the next 24 hours.

The hike in to Skoki today was just incredible. We were driven to the trailhead and then started our ascent through woods, alpine meadows, around un disturbed lakes and up steep inclines until we reached Deception Pass. Well named, and at 8200 feet, higher than anything any ...

... first glacier. Then our second, third...they were all around us. The sun came out and we could see the beautiful blue colour. Traffic slowed right down as we went past the most incredible ice sheets. Then it came to a complete halt as a group of hairy, longhorns crossed the road and nimbly hopped up the mountain side. We were impressed!

We stopped by the side of the road in a large siding near some trees. A ...

... CR-V. The best way to get around Canada is to drive so we decided to invest in a bit of a run around for the next six months. Very pleased to have some wheels!

The month before we left we had a lovely long term cat staying in the cattery called Chocolate.....he was part wild cat and absolutely beautiful and very friendly! One of my favourites along with Olaf!

We spotted a few more swift foxes and Matt took some left over chicken bones ...
