    Good Overnight Stay

We stayed here for one night in May 2014 as part of our planned Canadian Rockies tour. We had originally planned to stay here on the way back from Jasper but had cancelled that leg of the holiday and stayed additional nights in Banff but still wanted to stay here, for the experience.
The weather was still cold and there was some overnight snow high up so we did not encounter any problems with no air con. The heaters worked fine. We chose the lodge because we were self driving and wanted somewhere with breakfast, wifi and laundry so we could keep in contact and also wash clothes and minimise the amount of meals we needed to purchase.
The Mountaineer Lodge fit the bill nicely for us and we had no complaints and based on our experience would stay there again and recommend to others.

    Iconic Lake Louise

Lake Louise is an iconic Rocky Mountains location and its views are world famous. We were there in May 2014.

We had seen the lake, the village and the Fairmont Chateau earlier in the week as part of a tour of the Columbia Icefields with Brewsters and were glad to be quite familiar with the area.

The lake and the chateau are …

Daarna doorgereden …

Having visited Lake Louise earlier in the month and seen the horse riders Matt and I really wanted to go back and have a go ourselves.

With some kind birthday gifts from our family we booked up a half day lake/mountain trip up to a tea house on Lake Agnes off of Lake Louise.

We arrived at lunchtime and were both give our horses, mine was a lovely tan horse called Ransom (big fella!) and Matt had a grey horse called Scotty.....apparently likes to eat a lot, match made ...

Mountains, Lakes, Glaciers and more Bears!

A travel blog entry by simonandamanda on Jun 23, 2014

We were picked up bright and early by Sue, our driver for the day. After pausing to admire some elk grazing on the verge, before we even left our hotel, our first stop was at Athabasca Falls on the river of the same name, a First Nations word meaning where the bulrushes grow. Very pretty name, but we didn't see any! The Falls were beautiful in the sunshine, very fast flowing through a deep, narrow canyon. We were delighted to see rainbows forming all around ...
