    Good Overnight Stay

We stayed here for one night in May 2014 as part of our planned Canadian Rockies tour. We had originally planned to stay here on the way back from Jasper but had cancelled that leg of the holiday and stayed additional nights in Banff but still wanted to stay here, for the experience.
The weather was still cold and there was some overnight snow high up so we did not encounter any problems with no air con. The heaters worked fine. We chose the lodge because we were self driving and wanted somewhere with breakfast, wifi and laundry so we could keep in contact and also wash clothes and minimise the amount of meals we needed to purchase.
The Mountaineer Lodge fit the bill nicely for us and we had no complaints and based on our experience would stay there again and recommend to others.

    Biking Day Three

Today was a short day. We woke up early and biked the 10 mile warmup to the Sunwapta Pass. The Sunwapta Pass is a steep, tiring, 10 mile climb with many amazing views along the way. The climb took about 2 hours. At the top we were level and above some snow but, none of it was near us. We rode downhill till we came to Jasper National Park. A ...

... bus driver's unannounced efforts to ensure our final ascent up to the Falls, which brought many skipped heart beats among us. Doesn't anyone believe in communication these days?!! We appreciated the fact that Takakkaw Falls is the second highest falls in Canada when we caught our first view several minutes later, and our ears popped. The Falls' spectacular view and that of its surroundings speak for themselves in the attached video and ...

... stop Lake Moraine, a beautiful aqua colour in amongst green pines and heavy rock formations. A real eye opener.

The bus travelled below the Rockie formations all day, along roads through forest and adjacent to quick flowing rivers. Great scenery.

After lunch up to Takkawa Falls, this meant the bus had to traverse a road not for trailers or overlenght vehicles??

To do this he had to do ...

... and we also did our bit for the conversation around the table with a mix of ladies hiking groups and couples all of whom hailed from Canada and were keen to know where we had been.

As if that weren't enough for one day we were also treated to a massive grizzly wandering into the grounds of the lodge for us all to see. Dawn and Kitty were visiting the outhouses and had an unfettered view of this bear about twenty feet away. In ...
