          Good Overnight Stay

We stayed here for one night in May 2014 as part of our planned Canadian Rockies tour. We had originally planned to stay here on the way back from Jasper but had cancelled that leg of the holiday and stayed additional nights in Banff but still wanted to stay here, for the experience.
The weather was still cold and there was some overnight snow high up so we did not encounter any problems with no air con. The heaters worked fine. We chose the lodge because we were self driving and wanted somewhere with breakfast, wifi and laundry so we could keep in contact and also wash clothes and minimise the amount of meals we needed to purchase.
The Mountaineer Lodge fit the bill nicely for us and we had no complaints and based on our experience would stay there again and recommend to others.

... words about marriage, which may have helped restore a sense of perspective. We were a happy group. No large animals were seen - a large hairy marmot graced us with his presence. There was also no question of needing extra layers of clothing higher up the mountain (unlike Sunshine meadows earlier in the week). A most memorable hike. Jennie took the two easier options of the lake walk and the rock pile trail and pursued her wildlife spotting, adding a golden-mantled squirrel ...

... campsite soaked! We tried to find a campsite that was near a shelter, shown in pictures, and the bathrooms. We found a nice one. We were starting to make a fire in the oven in the shelter. These two women came along and made the fire for us. We are hoping to take a walk/run after dinner to Waterfowl Lake, which is a beautiful turquoise color. A Warm and Dry, ...

From here we drove along Two Jack Lake, an arm of Minnewanka Lake past some classic Canadian tourist brochure scenes, and then onto the 1A, Bow Valley Parkway, the scenic drive to Lake Louise. On the way we were stopped by a herd ...

... bus driver's unannounced efforts to ensure our final ascent up to the Falls, which brought many skipped heart beats among us. Doesn't anyone believe in communication these days?!! We appreciated the fact that Takakkaw Falls is the second highest falls in Canada when we caught our first view several minutes later, and our ears popped. The Falls' spectacular view and that of its surroundings speak for themselves in the attached video and ...
