Yellows, Oranges, Reds...oh Autumn :)

... TN. Quite the mountainy town with cabin themed everything, Dixie Country, Dollywood, Graceland. Massive everything! Pancake houses galore (southern stylee).

We were all rather tired and hungry by this point and stopped to have dinner. Sumner made pasta for us and we sat down at our little Lola table to have a cute little dinner. We commemorated with a picture, chilled out a bit, scoped some things on the internet, and made back out to the open road. Now we're headed to Memphis...ish.

A rainy, foggy, "smoky" day at Smoky Mountains NP

... Smokies, and that gave them their name, is due to the 85+ inches of annual precipitation that they get at the higher elevations...and because of their two unique climates, at higher and lower elevations, there are many species of living things (including several salamanders!) that are unique to the Park. There are over 1600 varieties of flowers in the park and a population of 1500+ bears,- but alas, we saw none of this, only a few leaves ...

Day 2: Heading toward the Smokies!

... Not Museums, Buffet Restaurants, Music Shows and Auditoriums, and more go-kart tracks than we've ever seen, in all our travels combined! It turns out that most of the schools in Tennessee are closed this week for Fall Break, so a lot of the tourists were families, here for the amusement parks more than the National Park. Neither of us enjoys this carnival-atmosphere, so prevalent now in towns like Branson, Wisconsin Dells and ...

Driving in the rain

... has opened up and it is raining. We work our way to the I-24 interchange and enter the highway to a very slow crawl. This continues to the I-75 Interchange. We pass several accidents along the way. The worst on I-75 where there is a SUV on its roof. Looks like a pretty new vehicle too. The drive up to Knoxville pretty much sucks and is white knuckled most of the way.

We arrive at our next ...

Extreme Stickiness

... We haven't decided if we're gonna take the park or not!?!?

Pigeon Forge is like a mini Vegas for kids. The Street is lit up for miles with tons of miniature golf, go carts, shows and of course shops. We got in pretty late so we didn't stop to check any of that out. We're probably gonna do that today has well as make our way through The Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Till next time, Peace out!

Jess and Nic
Cherokee

It has been many years since I've been in Cherokee and little has changed except for the Casino which is undergoing major expansion. We were nestled into a nice RV park with a brook flowing through it. Cherokee is close to many attractions and we enjoyed our stay there.
