Well, it's been exactly a month since I left home - fleeing the political unrest and the heat in Thailand. Both of those things are still ongoing, but I'm ready to go back home. I think it was Judy in the Wizard of Oz who said "There's no place like home". I have to agree.

The first item on the agenda was to take the gentle uphill walk to “Little Adam’s Peak” (Adam’s Peak is Sri Lanka’s highest point), which is a pyramid shaped rock. In the UK you would probably get arrested for walking along train tracks, after a few minutes though we noticed lots of locals walking along the tracks so it's obviously quite normal. We kept an ear out for oncoming trains and kept our eyes peeled for "a log bridge" which should be on our left.

Relaxing in Ella, Ella, Ella...
We are currently in a little town in the high country of Sri Lanka, called Ella. After the busy city of Kandy, it was a welcomed change to get some peace and space.
The trip here was interesting. The way to get here was a train. The first of our travels so far, (and most likely the last if possible). If you want 1st class, you need to book ahead for it due to the limited seats. We didn't book ahead so it was 2nd class (the only other class) for us!
