The town of Ella is strange- essentially a strip of souvenir shops and western feeling restaurants with flashing lights.
Not my favorite :/
There were parts that were cool- on the last day there was a big market on the street, and the views were incredible, but the town felt Sylvan Lake Beachfront-y.

For the first time in Sri Lanka I had a great sleep.

... train station. The office walls had wooden panelling and even had one of those big green safes that required someone to turn the giant wheel to open the door.

The train ride was comparatively easy to our Indian experience. We booked the tickets 2 days in advance and were given the correct class. Observation class was comfortable - it had open windows, fans and soft seats. We felt this was luxury! The scenery was ...

Day 164 - Bus to Ella

... of the bus speakers at full volume. As we crossed a bridge on the approach into Ella, there was a spectacular waterfall to our left. It was hard to know where to look though, as to the right were equally spectacular views across the jungle.

As we arrived in Ella, we were met at the bus stop by a tuk tuk driver who owned a guesthouse with his family. The rooms sounded decent and were cheap, so we said we would take a look. ...

Chilling in the Tea Plantations

... impressive with reasonably priced and great quality food, something we all needed at this stage.

Well fed and watered we took the final ascent to the top of Little Adam's Peak. Far from Adam's Peak itself, but the views were still nice and actually the walk to get there and back was far nicer, meandering through the tea plantations and watching the ladies "plucking" the tea.

I did have a very amusing conversation with our guide on the way ...

... two out of three temples I made it too, this one is worth the visit. At this point the rain was so bad I had to seek shelter in the nearest shop, This happened to be a carpenters workshop.

Whilst waiting for the rain to stop, The owner approached me....

Owner: " Where are you from?"

I'm thinking here we go again. Someone wants to sell me something. But considering he kindly letting me take shelter from the elements. I humour him.
