Okay, of course parents are reading this because it says "Parents don't read" in huge letters and if something said, "Katy don't read" the first I would do is read it. What is that about our nature? So here I go, some stories to make the parents loose sleep at night as they worry about their eldest daughter's adventurous streak going awry. It all started well intentioned (as most botched plans go). I ran into Dominic in town and told him that there were 25 college women and three models (that...
In the jungle, Belize katyinbelize... supposed to keep our insect repellent to a minimum so act not to harm the caves! and it certainly tasted as bad as chloroquine), lime leaves (useful to chew to get rid of the bitterness of the previous plant (although I found it just made me tongue go numb!). He also showed us a plant to use on bites to stop them itching and handed a load of leaves to Steve who was suffering!

When we got to the mouth of the cave we donned ...

Some local kids were playing there and entertained us
with some pretty impressive flips and dives into the shallow water.
Erika was playing with the kids near
the steps to the dock when she felt something sharp on her side, she
got out of the water and was breaking out into a huge rash. The kids
told us it was a Jewfish (how appropriate, a Jewfish bit little
Jewish Erika) and that the fish attach themselves to the dock and
sting, similar ...

That made it even bett**. Back home to get ready for tomorrow. Out on the porch, the girls and I had our own "Planet Earth" moment when one of our resident geckos ate a fly about half it's size. Helen took the opportunity to continue her search for the perfect Margarita.
(click for map) I'd been looking forward to this trip for weeks, and was worried that it wouldn't live up to my own hype for it. It delivered in spades. Being aboard the ferry that I'd ...
Xunantunich, Belize racinghippo... it was pretty expensive, the food was fabulous.

Saturday 3rd January: We got the hire car and went into town to get some breakfast, bought a packed lunch from the cafe and headed off for our adventure. The first 'incident' happened even before we left the town. Many of the roads in town have deep concrete ditches along the edge and I can't remember who was driving, Kelly or Lara, but she took a corner too sharply and the car wheel was ...
San Ignacio, Belize cat2222... in with the suff, Richard friend the chief of customs walked out and greeted us and waived us through with no charge truly a miracle of God and an answer to prayer. Reaching back home at My Refuge after both myself and Richard driving the whirlwind was finished. Sweet warmth after being frozen out by a cold 80 degrees and way to much air conditioning I was home once again. Thank you all for prayers and support. Take courage for God answers prayer often times not as ...
Belmopan, Belize hrpitschmann... where society preaches save the trees and kill the children and the majority say why not God did make it but who is he to tell us what to do, I cant seem him this God you speak of . Your out of date man times are changing, its about peace and love, just not the perfect kind that you offer from the Bible. In summary pagans to preachers are compromising the truth of what this existence is all about. From choosing to take the time at the pulpit in front of ten ...
Belmopan, Belize hrpitschmann... up going to, but it would have been pretty cool if we had. After leaving the iguana sanctuary, we caught a bus up to the capital of Belmopan and then went to Banana Bank Lodge, where we met up with a missions team that had arrived to work with the ministry that Marieke has worked with multiple times. Everyone should check them out, they are called The Word At Work ( http://www.twaw.org/ ) and have one of the best missions strategies of any organization out there. They strive to help ...
Belmopan, Belize plastrro... by the river sweeping in mud and stone when it flooded, these got blocked across the river and over time became sandstone forming the bridges. In addition we saw quite a lot of fruit bats. The tour lasted about two hours and was very informative; our guide was the first modern man to explore the cave in 1987 so he knows quite a lot about it. After the tour their was an opportunity to swim in the river, although I only had a paddle and watched the ...
