... at a
time, to see out the windows where you can see the valleys and rolling hills of Vermont, New York, and Massachusetts. Picture all those hills covered with colored trees and you can imagine
what we saw. We also stopped at a beautiful church and saw Robert Frost’s grave in the graveyard near the church. There were many revolutionary soldiers buried there. After shopping at the gift shop we loaded the bus and headed to the ...

Rain and road trip

... Company. Besides being a gigantic store, filled with the smells of scented candles and tasty Vermont goodies, the mums decorating the landscape were gorgeous.

Finally arrived in Bennington, Vermont and checked into the Hampton Inn. Very nice hotel. We went to dinner at a local country club, good food and good company, everyone else knows each other so the interest is in the couple from California.

Good bye New York Hello Vermont

... around 1:30. We climbed 5,375 feet and descended 5,400 feet. Lots of screaming down hills, with the brakes on I reached 42 mph which is too fast in the crossing wind for me. The rains never came and we even had brief periods of sun, almost like God knows that this is one of the last days that we are going to have on this trip and wants to make sure that we appreciate all the beauty that he ...

No Bull This Will Rise Your Gorge

So after a days rest we began to explore the area around where we stayed.

First we found this Bull that I just HAD to ride, then we found his Indian friend. How! Boy what a hoot those two were. After that we went down into this deep dark place called a Gorge, oh wait never mind it was not dark at all I was just in the backpack.

We got to see all sorts ...

A visit with Aunt Sister Cece

The final part of our trip was a visit to the Nuns of New Skete, where my Aunt has been living for a long, long time...We were treated to great company and great food. Noteworthy things happened, and at some point they will be retrieved and immortalized on this here space.

Exploring a fraction of Vermont

... weren't many people out and about; although we did hear a few screaming graduation parties...

The next day we checked out the marble center-of-the-VT-universe: Dorset. Found a couple of marble homes (great for making pastries on the side of the house!) and explored the marble quarry.

Au revoir Williamstown

The purple cow is a rarefied organism specially bred under the pressurized conditions of the impermeable bubble that shares the same nonsensical prefix of the cow--purple.The purple mountains around Williamstown remain purple, though the bubble prevents most from venturing out into the green, the brown, and the glorious yellow-red asunder leaves in all seasons, waiting perhaps, only for the descend of the hollowing white snows, when everything is made alike ...

Out in the wilds of New York State

... dispatcher (Debbie) sent me a note asking if I had enough hours to pick up in Maspeth, 150 miles away, but I did not have enough to get there. Later I looked it up and found out that is right in the middle of Queens... thank goodness I didn't have enough hours!

Stop off at Bennington before heading to Shelburne

We woke up at 9am in the Bays Inn Motel and grabbed some breakfast before heading out to the Norman Rockwell museum in Stockbridge MA. The museum is definitely worth a look, some really great and humorous paintings in there from the man who used to do many of the Saturday Evening Post covers. Then we headed up north and stopped off at Bennington for some lunch. We passed so many places that looked like they had come straight out of the movies, like Sleepy Hollow and Pleasantville!
