Set off early for Monterey on the pacific coast. The drive was really nice. Went through a beautiful place called Cottonwood, and a huge lake. Drove through mountains with little villages scattered about, and some flat farmland. Got to Monterey early, as the drive only took 3 hours. Tomorrow morning, we are off on our travels again but we will definitely come back to Santa Barbara. We loved the slower pace of life the friendliness of everyone we met, the fabulous food and the beautiful buildings. The beach is lovely too, but there are some very special small coves just out of the centre that would be perfect for a day at the beach.

... there's a really long pier, lots of young drop outs everywhere in groups on the grass, people playing football there too, volleyball on the beach - it's all going on. Have a beer then back to shower and head out again, find a nice wine bar then another brewery jurst opposite which is packed out, there's a quiz night going on! Well today we set of down the Californian Coastline starting at Highway 17 which takes you through the Pebble Beach run golf courses, we ended up at Pebble Beach itself where I spent some money on golf gear just to treat myself, we then had lunch looking ver the course, I think the next time I come here I need to play the course, I was last here thirty years ago and hopefully it won't be so ...
