Left Dave & Julie's about noon today, and they suggested we drive out to the coast and see the quaint little villages of Rockport and Camden, as we headed north towards Acadia National Park. Camden and Rockport were indeed pretty little coastal towns, but we didn't stop. We got such a late start, and we really wanted to make it to Bar Harbor before dark.

... down the final gravel road out in the wilderness (or so it seemed at that hour), not reallly knowing what lay ahead of us. It was a perfect ending to an otherwise stressful drive.

Below we have posted some fun photos from Dave & Julie's place and a walk we took with them the next morning after breakfast. We walked in the country to see the turning leaves, and passed by the summer/country home of their French Canadian friends who are elderly artists.

... BYOB (Bring your own Beer/ Bottle/ Beverage/ Bordeaux/ Burgundy/ Brew/ Ballymore) is not very helpful to the unprepared. You have to be a local or you need to carry your own drinks all the time. That last thing is something we want to postpone as long as possible. We have seen too many people that carry bottles, and look shabby. And a whole liquor store in the back of the car is not good either.

Camden is a beautiful little town, paradise for sailors, we enjoyed the view of the schooners in the harbour as well as the view from Mt Battie which is a half mile climb. The Penobscot Bay is an excellent spot for all sorts of watersports.

The harbor is used by a lot of sailing vessels, some really big two-masted vessels. They take out tourists on short trips, a few hours or longer multi day voyages. Costs a bit more than dime ...
