Happy Thanksgiving

... wrist. This apparently put a dent in her trip and the hospital in Paris wasn't going to be able to put on a lighter cast for her until Friday so we went ahead and had her come out today and replaced the cast with an ace bandage ourselves. She was a little frightened, but I'm sure her wrist will be okay. The trip here was very pretty and I wish I could have taken pictures but the train was moving too quick to really catch anything. It was my first trip on a ...

Geneva to Paris to Sedan to Bastogne

Mr. Mrs. Vernaud and Daniel joined me for breakfast at 6:30 am. I had still suffered the effects of jet-lag during the night, so the strong Swiss coffee was very welcome! After our good-byes, Mr. Vernaud drove me to the Nyon train station and bought me a ticket to Geneva. I hopped on a train just before it pulled out and ended up standing in the entry area with my luggage since the train was full of morning commuters. Also in the entry were three American kids, one teen and two of primary ...

Our Day in the Country

... area about 5 minutes outside of town that she takes the dogs to. It is a huge farm and there is a road that winds all the way around it. It took about an hour to walk the length of the road. The dogs love it. It was a bit chilly, especially when the wind was blowing. Conrad had to stop and feed some cows. It was fun to play with the dogs.

When we got back to the car, we went to see a waterfall. It was a ...

City in the trees

Of course I needed to visit Luxembourg, hiding away there between France, Germany and Belgium. It is the fifith smallest country in the world. It is very hilly and surrounded by trees. The hostel is down at the bottom of a cliff, yay! The city of course is quite small, but it is surrounded by ruins and forest which makes it quite a unique city in amongst the hustle and crowds of all the other major cities. The people there speak French and their own language, Luxembourgish I suppose.

My first day in Luxembourg

... us upstairs to unpack while she made us dinner number two. Within 45 minutes we were unpacked and eating again, this time devouring homemade pizza on an amazing homemade crust, literally piled with some sort of spicy cheese, mushrooms, salami, ham, peppers, onion, oregano... and I think some other stuff I may have forgotten. She served this with salad and Italian wine. Afterwards, she brought out a dessert, which was a Epiphany Cake. In this cake was hidden a surprise ...

Almost a week already - let's catch up!

... after the swim. I had a lovely meal at Anna's and slept well that night! Wednesday 12th March At 11.07am I finally found the exclamation mark on my work computer. I was very proud and couldn't believe it had been hiding all that time! On the way to work I saw a guy on a motorbike with the same Jacket as Owain - I do miss him :( At lunchtime I tried out the shuttlebus from work into Kirchberg with one of my colleagues. We were able to use our lunch ...

... looks really pretty when you see it in your rear-vision mirror [actually it is not that bad, but we were really happy to see the back of it]. Took the new, green beast for its first real drive, 400km to Luxembourg. It really is enormous, but is easy enough to drive and so much more comfortable [and cool] than the van we borrowed. Some whining from the fanbelt ...

Paris to Luxembourg

... Casemates - tunnels and chambers dug to further fortify Luxembourg city. Saw Notre Dame church and walked along the park at the bottom of the valley where we found an old church built into the side of the hill. Luxembourg is a beautiful medieval valley.
