Today we headed out of Avignon through the Provence country side south to the city of Les Baux to visit the historic area. It was a beautiful drive through endless round abouts, thank God for our navigation system.
On the return we drove through the small quaint town of St. Remy. There was minimal parking as a bull fight was about to begin.
... upper levels are surrounded by corridors that go around the back behind the seating. People could take a break from the shows and grab some snacks and drinks as they pass by the vomitoriums. A bit like the MCG really. Drove back to Arles and Sophie and Phil had a quick swim. As it was already 6.30pm we checked out the menu for tonight and decided to eat at the hotel. Each night they prepare 3 different meals for the 3 courses and Sophie was happy with chicken ...
... We finally were instructed by hotel staff at Auberge to enter the postal code, and finally we found our next destination in the navigation. Off we went...three hours later we arrived in Avignon.
Relaxing today...sights tomorrow. This hotel is beautiful. ...
... was a must! however I needed to take my camera which subsequently had no battery life. the lady from the campsite is so nice, I think she's the receptionist but she does a lot more around the campsite. I asked about charging my camera and an adapter to convert the British plug into an EU (we annoyingly forgot them this time!). She didn't have one, at first she spoke quite slowly but now she thinks we understand fluent French as she speaks 100mph.
... the middle of the road and tried to do a U-turn. A trucky behind him blew his horn, vehicles stopped, then the road rage started. Boy, were those 2 guys sounding off loud and fast. I couldn't follow the abuse but I did make out plenty of French expletives.
After that we had a relatively quiet and calm morning on the train! Only distraction
was Dad catching flies.
