    ... with smooth bitumen.
Before too long we turned onto a "white" road - still tarmac - and the centre line disappeared. We were in the real countryside with farmhouses, barns and implement sheds often right on the roadway which was a roller coaster ride, ducking and diving between the crests and dips.
For anybody who has watched the Rally of 1000 Lakes, the road was a bit like the stages used in Finland, although not quite as fast and sweeping. Magic. That's what you get your ...

    It's Fika Time

If there is a theme to our sabbatical it would have to be, "Slow down and enjoy life." We had a taste of this in Italy and France where long lingering meals were the norm and slow travel with no schedule or set agenda guided our plans. ... a place that has more cars than its roads can cope with. It was a little chaotic getting to our hostel, as the GPS could not find it. There were road works too, and bus only lanes that seem to start and stop in ways that unwary travellers can find hard to escape. But we finally found it. On a cliff and out of sight. But we were home. Well, for four days anyway.

    First snow

A travel blog entry by kazlang on Dec 10, 2014

As we travel across Sweden on our train, it has started to snow. It is coming down sideways and is heavy at some points. We are cosy inside. I think we are the only ones excited by the glimpse of the snow out the windows... Half way to Malmo the snow is thicker and making the forests of Christmas trees look just perfect. It is exciting to see the first snow in our European holiday. The little villages along the way look cold and isolated though and I am unsure how they ...
