OH No Snow

We spent a day driving into the Parc National de la Gaspésie and then sucked it up and paid for a campsite. It was too cold to start a campfire so we made soup in the van and warmed up. The night was cold but under our many layers of covers we slept well. In the morning we woke up to a van covered in a fine layer of snow, already slowly melting. We forced ourselves out of bed and made a good breakfast of ...

... it's not too expensive - but then I can always just check for myself, and it only takes a couple of minutes to see whether or not there's going to be any need to stand outside in the cold trying to find pretty lights in the sky! We left Rimounski at about 8 AM this morning. We had a long day on the river but it was calm with little wind. The small towns and villages are pretty to look at and scattered along the river. There were several very long stretches with wind mills. Stainte-Anne-des-Monts Marina is a very safe harbor enclosed by high rock sea walls. We may be here for a couple of days due to a high wind warning. We will keep you ...

Day 28 (May 14) -- This morning we awoke with that amazing view of Roche Perce and the crab fisher zig-zagging through his buoys to check for crabs..... sun was shining and there was warmth in the sun but a bit of a wind that was cool. We climbed out of Perce and saw Roche Perce from the other side in the distance.

We continued travelling Highway 132 to Gaspe and then continued westward on the ...

Rimouski to Ste Anne des Monts

A travel blog entry by marty_sk on Jul 15, 2013

I'm making good time towards Ste Anne des Monts and I pass through Cap Chat which has a massive array of wind turbines (133) and the worlds largest vertical axis turbine, Éole, I drop by for a closer look. A young and very eager tour guide shows me around and wows me with the facts of the system. I arrive in Ste Anne des Monts and find another backpackers oasis, Sea Shack. I set up camp have a few beers with the other travelers and watch a stunning sunset over the St ...
