The Sendlinger Tor location is fabulous. So close to many restaurants and within walking distance to everything! Also, right next to the metro. The neighborhood is cute, and even though you are in next to places that tend to get loud at night, you can't hear a thing!

Samson still not 100% today. He woke with plenty of energy after a good night's sleep. We departed by 10.30 and headed onto the auto-bahn for Munich. The plan was to stop to visit the Audi factory on our way at Ingolstadt, but Samson fell asleep in the car saying he was cold again. We decided to press on to Munich and arrived about 2pm. We checked …

We definitely liked Munich city - we certainly did try some of the famous HofBrau Haus beer, and we also toured the HofBrau Haus as well as St. Peter's Church, St. Michael's Church, and Marienplatz (central square with many upscale stores). We also tried several sausages of course (very good), and a unique honey wine at the fabulous city market, which has lots of exotic fruit ...

... good tips about the area around our hotel and some good tips about Octoberfest. The best part we learned was that there was a fabulous market only a few blocks from our hotel.

Once we checked into our hotel and changed our clothes (it was another beautiful day) we went for a walk to the market and WOW. This market was amazing. It had the standard fruits and vegetables, but it also had meats, and cheeses and breads and flowers and wines and oils and olives and many, many ...

... watching the sun break through the overhanging trees of the gardens and holding on to the low crossing bridges against the current.

After drying ourselves we headed to Augustinas Brewery Bier Hall which had been recommended to us by a local Munchien (one who lives in Munich) whom we had met the night before who told us it is the best brew house in Munich as some other local beer halls he said were a tourist trap and over priced. The group of us met up with ...

... for prisoners, the diseases and the deaths. Something that struck me was that, despite being taught that Hitler and Germans generally, were very good record keepers, many many thousands of deaths towards the end of the war went unregistered. People could be gassed without knowing who they were. I mean, even if they put a fake cause of death or name/identity unknown, I would have thought that they would have at least been registered. Anyway, that wasn't the ...
