We left Ballston Spa with lots of tears all around. We have had a wonderful time enjoying the everyday routine of the kids and being able to participate in their activities. It is very hard to leave. We spent the night in Tremont PA which is in the Appalachian Mts. When we woke up the temp was 43 degrees! We drove on down rt 81 toward our destination of Farmington Pa and Fallingwater. This stretch took us longer than anticipated because we had to cross the Appalachian and Alleghany ...
... by now. The car museum was featuring BMWs and motorcycles. ( I wish I still had my BMW..). I drove a race car simulator and had to stop after a few too many "incidents." Damn wall... Oh, did I mention the wine? Delicious, and no wonder, it was Swedish Hill, wine with grapes from the Finger Lakes. All 6 wines we tried were excellent. Stayed the night at the Moreau State Campground, a lovely, serene setting. Had a nice fire and glass of wine, or two, or... We ran in ...
... to see some of the local people enjoying their lovely natural attraction. Then we made our way to Stewart's for some coffee - that turned into milk shake and root beer float. We discovered the Stewart's was pretty much on Rt 9N so Otto headed north to Saranac and I headed south to Saratoga from there.
Another lovely paddle - I really enjoyed the Hudson - it felt so good to be on the water with the breeze blowing and the cool water dripping off my paddle.
