Up to Tre Rose for breakfast then Roger met Luca, his riding companion for the morning. They are riding up the mountain out of Nesso and back around. He has been looking forward to this ride. Exploring Nesso is on our list today. Nesso is a reasonable size village, we guess around 1000 maybe 1500 residents. We walked I and sang happy birthday to Milano, I got him a postcard as a card, dior made one which was really sweet. He loved all his little presents. I got him a cup with Milano, I pencil that said I love Milano, some gummy bears, and a keyring that had Milano on it. He seemed pretty happy, we also ordered the Lego for him that he was after. ... since they live right on the border. I guess that kind of spoils my reasoning that "I must walk across Switzerland to Liechtenstein, because the trains are too expensive". But I've been having so much fun walking, there's no way I can stop now!

They do give me their phone number and invite me to stay at their place when I reach Liechtenstein.

... enough excuse to completely abandon a village... My suspicion is that it's the same scenario as what's happened to the mountain villages of Umbria: at one time people lived off the land here, perhaps herding goats and growing food on small plots of land, but over time the easier life of the cities and plains was too enticing... people moved away and forgot their village and way of life.
