A nice campground after a 4 hour drive through Montreal - mostly easy driving, which is good, because we didn't know how much twisty, windy, up and down we would face the next day on "La Route des Sommets", and after crossing the border into Maine!

... it was touch and go whether we were even going to be able to make it. Lots of wind and rain. Anyway, it settled down a bit, so we all dressed accordingly and headed out. Went skiing with the Reidy's and their cousins. Jay Peak is definitely a must on a skiers list. Some sweet glade skiing for novices. Packed powder. 25 degrees. Barely a breeze. A couple of quads and a tram bought you to the top. Sitting on the Canadian border in northern Vermont, it's quite remote making for small lift lines. ... with gorgeous fall foliage all around. This is duck festival season and there is a fete in town with duck featured at all the bistros and restaurants. Steve had it on Friday night and I had trout that was much like a thick salmon steak. Must have been a big trout! The temps are in the high 70's to low 80's. Today is supposed to be even hotter. But it is supposed to be only 59, with rain, tomorrow in Quebec City. ...
