... just kidding Bei). The cave system was simply stunning and my award winning pictures don't do it justice. From there we had a 10 km cycle to Predjama castle. Bugger me can these Slovians fits some hills in to 10 kms. We arrived there with a few minutes to spare as the second of the blockbuster tours started at 1300 hrs. On route we bumped into the Polish couple, Margo and Marius on the way from the castle to the caves... Small world!! The castle was ...

... advice is still ringing in my ears. Stay off the white roads ( referring to the road we were on. They go up and down a lot)). We were obviously on the wrong road as we hadn't gone down yet. After nearly 10 hours we arrived at our ...

Our next destination were the Postojna Caves. About 20kms of underground limestone caves, similar to what we have in West Australia, but on a massive scale, (sorry Mammoth cave, but you're tiny compared to their Cathedral - it can hold 8,000 people when they hold concerts there). Scrap my previous comments about Slovenian tourism - they had it all under control here. It was like being on a Disneyland ride, right down to ...

... times a year on a few prawns. He's been around for decades and will probably lurk in his dark and dingy hole for up to a hundred years. The last cavern is the biggest and we are told concerts for up to ten thousand people are held here. An echo lasts for six seconds. The return train journey is as exciting as any fairground ride as we speed back to where we see the underground river raging beneath us into the blackness of the mountain. I've enjoyed it, but glad to be back ...

A great, if unpronounceable, place to start

... of the Julian Alps, a few hours north of Ljubljana, with a small lake on which sits an tiny island church, both overlooked by a precarious looking cliff top castle. Arriving in Bled with only the name of a hostel, I found the place - a funny little establishment that occupies only the second storey of a building and has a room the size of a small wardrobe, housing only a computer, cash register and printer, for its ‘reception’ - and crashed, well and truly done for the day. ...
