We must be crazy leaving Florida this morning, (this great state of Florida) Slowly making our way back to Kentucky. As we leave Pensacola Florida we are driving to Cherokee Campground in Helena, Alabama. Should be there late this afternoon. Not liking the coldness I feel in the air as we approach I-65. Haven't traveled this highway since August.
Spent a restful night in the forest at Cherokee ...

... and horseback riding. It's a great place for a cookout with family and friends.

There are some seriously good barbeque restaurants in the Birmingham area! One of my favorites is called Dreamland Bar-B-Que. For a long time, the only food on the menu was barbeque ribs and white bread! Now you can order BBQ sandwiches, side dishes, and banana pudding there too.

We have now covered 258 miles together! That's 415.2 kilometers.

Poor James, they only got back from Durban yesterday, so noble of him to do the drive again today! Explains inter-state highway system. Just drive for days it seems, no traffic lights, intersections etc. pretty drive through forest nearly the whole way. Kites, vultures, roadkill ...

... we talked about food A LOT in the office, Morgan's new book 'Bourbon and Bacon' has led to us researching potential recipes and places for our tour. It turns out people like Bourbon and Bacon in the south, A LOT! I came across cafes which cooked bacon cookies, bacon brownies as well as bacon and salt caramelised donuts.

Tomorrow we'll be planning our trip more thoroughly as well as getting ready for the Fourth of July, stay tuned!
