... of info - it was here in Burgos that the Catholic King Fernando welcomed home Christopher Columbus after his 2nd voyage to the new world. Franco also used Burgos as his base until the end of the civil war. Thursday 18th June Leaving Burgos was very pleasant and much easier than entering the city. We are now in Meseta country, ( elevated & flat tableland) and have passed the 300km mark. We came across a small stand alone 12 bed Municipal Albergue so after walking 25kms we ...

    ... wind.

As I got undressed I realized that between the wind and the cloudy skies, I had not given due respect to the sun, and as a result, had quite a burn on my legs and arms. Usually the sun is behind us, but today because of the detours and long days, we actually had the sun in front of us. I got a bad burn. I knew it would hurt even more tomorrow.

The Albergue today was a 17star facility ... clean, big showers, nice spaces ...

... mom had pasta with canned tomato sauce. For dinner we settled on a hamburger and cerveza - Amstel (no San Miguel here). It hit the spot! Short jaunt back to the Hostal and we are ready to turn in. I'll upload the picture and post the blog, then shower. Dad warned that the water pressure was minimal so mom decided she was clean enough. Ha! They will probably both be asleep before I get in the shower. I'm so tired. I hope I make it to bed before I fall ...
