Developed a routine of leaving Alburgue's well before daylight. It is challenging finding the "way"markers. They could be on a tree, a street sign post, a wall, a curb, or just on the sidewalk. The trail through towns and villages is not as well defined as it is in the countryside. I've included a picture coming into an urban area; can you find the yellow arrow showing the way? Today was 14+ miles into the town of Belorado. The church in this town has 3 ...

... never been more humbled by the beauty of this simple.. magnificent home! The stone walls and floors were 4 ft thick.. every piece of furniture was hand crafted by the husband and nature's resources... she most certainly hand stitched every dollie. It turned out not to be the case and so I got a bed at the municipal, a GREAT decision. I entered the albergue ...

... inside his hotel as he wanted to show me his wall of nationalities. Unfortunately I had nothing to give him from England to put up there but he gave me a small Camino medallion. So kind. The kindness of some people I have met on the Camino has really touched my heart.
The path then went uphill and I embarked on the Meseta. Arable farmland on either side and it will last for about a week. There will be ...

Castrojeriz to Itero de la Vega
    Hostel Puente Fitero
    High 88, Low 54
12.2 km - adjusted for climb (7.3 miles)

Well, Brierley's guidebook says Castrojeriz appears to be in perpetual siesta and that is certainly true in the morning. We have entered a region that prefers to sleep in! After being conditioned in the Basque country to rise and leave early, up at 6 am, eat, and hit the trail by 6:30-6:45, here the bars do not open ...
