We have arrived in Norway

So the journey began - leaving Holmfirth at midday to hopefully catch the ferry from Newcastle to Stavanger at 6.30pm. Not surprisingly the saga with the bike continued when stopping in Middlesborough for a well earned break Claire thought I should check the bike was still secure on the back of the motorhome. After checking it was and turning to return to continue our travels I noticed that the motorbike keys were on the rear bumper and had been for the last 130miles so it looks like God at l...

Rainy Stavanger

What a day I don't know where to begin? We have to say that the energy levels are being rapidly depleted by the constant rain its like living on another planet it just never stops........ After visiting the centre for a walk round the old town and stopping for a bite to eat (£15 for a small pizza and £4 for a small coke) we returned to the campsite to find that our drainage system had blocked up and the camper was flooded then a shelf fell down. So to top off a day of unpleasantness we are of...

Last day in Stavanger

Well today started off as eventful as ever with a leak in our bathroom - not quite sure where its coming from but it ruined all our special toilet paper, and at £1 a pop I wasn't happy!!Anyway, we (or should I say Paul) cleared it up and got on with the day! So, we had booked a ferry to take us to Pulpit Rock, which is a hanging ledge off a cliff face left from the Ice Age, and Lysefjorden which is the largest Fjord in Norway (check me out!!). We had both been looking forward to this as all t...

I went to Stavanger in june to attend the beach volleyball world tour, but when I got there I
fund so much else to do that I didnt find the time to watch the volleyball. Its was insane, and
the best part is that everything is so close that you can do alot in one day. I spendt 10 days there
and it is without doubt the best vacation I have ever been on.

I live in Amsterdam and ...

The Lysefjord near Stavanger

Another couple mad train rides from Bergen to Oslo and then over to Stavanger took us to small oil town, from where we would make our way to the beautiful lyseford. The fjord is quite deep, and we came to take the hike up to the Preikestolen, high above the fjord. The hike was great, and though we were soaked by rain upon arriving in Stavanger, it wasn't too bad during the 2 hour trek up.

Pickled Herring for Breakfast anyone?

... in the world! We have a Coop that rivals any Superstore...unfortunately I can't read the labels of stuff yet....but I'm working on it. The food in tubes kind of blow me away???? I have been so busy at the cheeze and bread sections I am certainly missing other stuff! Bought what I thought was beef steaks today.....turned out to be pork. Oh well. At least I can get pork here as opposed to our last assignment!

I'm working on the money now ...

Norway

... nice and filled with many odd stops: a feature in the rock that looks like a heart, a part of the cliff that looks like a face, a seal sitting on a rock, a little waterfall where they collected water for us to drink, and a little nook where some outlaws once hid. The final stop was Pulpit Rock which was way high above us at the top of the fjord. It's a big flat piece of rock that lots of people hike to. From above, apparently you ...

Flying to Norway- Business Class!

... NOT give off the vibe that this is your first time in business class- priceless. There was a put your feet all the way up and lay down option. Or how about the gentle recline for a premium movie watching experience. Let's not forget to mention the chair massage option either... There were so many options of what to do while sitting there- about 25 sweet music stations, at least as many television show options and about 10 movies to choose from. Did I have to consult ...

Missing the bus

... that she is going to help and picks us up after some 45 minutes of walking. She drives us down the way a ways where we can pick up a local bus to the city. Celebration time! I finally get to the party sometime after 8PM. Not much to say about that...its just like any other party. You dance, mingle, have a few drinks...yep. Oh, I can say that I didn't take many pictures because the viewfinder on my camera broke the last night in Bergen. I ...

Been there, hardly done that!

... see it's me being out there!" On the way out to the rock, you have to walk on a tiny natural step and around the corner of another big square rock next to Kjeragbolten, and with no railings in sight, other than on the car ferry down in Lysefjorden, it can be a pretty scary experience. I made it easily around the corner of the square rock, and was about to take the step on to the rock itself, but then I was suddenly time warped back to the cash counter at Kentucky Fried ...
