Just 100 miles to Minneapolis today. Beautiful riding weather 77-84 degrees and great roads. I haven't been in a big city since Seattle. Interesting to be in traffic again. I suppose Sturgis would qualify as big traffic...

All the corn fields pictured with the signs on the road are for Ethanol manufacturing. The big plant I took a picture of has the corn silos and distilling operation. Interesting. ...

... Long straight good road with farms as far as the eyes could see. I cruised all day through corn, wheat, and soybean fields, cattle farms, dairy farms, lakes, rolling hills, and great vistas all in beautiful weather. What a difference a day makes.

It was also nice to have a fairly short day, 190 miles to Willmar, MN. Apol's Harley Davidson was 10 miles away in Raymond MN. I needed my clutch adjusted. ...

PS Don't delay your own family trips for anything. Certainly nothing as small as not having an itinerary or money. Go now. ...

Captain's log: star date 8/7/15: we encountered a bit of Friday evening traffic going north on 39/90/94...but nothing too bad. The boys were occupied with their computers, I drove, and Mike worked hard to pretend that he wasn't totally uncomfortable in the passenger seat. The big unknown for this trip is how Mike's body will handle hours and hours in the car. Will the roads be bumpy? Will the ...

Lac Qui Parle State Park: Recharging the inner me!

... She reminded me that if you keep an open mind, the good in people will show through. So, I thanked her for sharing and bid her ado. The part I think I will remember most, is the women who checked me into the park. She filled me in on the area and educated me on the lunar moth project they were doing. She seemed so proud!  The morning I left, she was on duty when I dropped off my key. During our short conversation, she told me about herself ...
