May 23-26: Just to see another of the islands, I had decided to spend my last three nights on Gran Canaria. Rather than flying, I took the ferry from Puerto del Rosario on Fuerteventura to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The journey took close to seven hours – but they show movies onboard! I closed my eyes and took some deep meditative breaths; just as I was breathing in a huge wave came and soaked me from head to toe. I don't know how it's possible! ... basic necessities like water. We arrived safely and eagerly stepped out of the cabin. Instantly I felt that dewy warmth on my dehydrated airplane skin. If I could bottle that feeling I would!

... only a few blocks from the bus station...in reality this was true but those blocks were vertical so we hiked up 560 steps (Mike counted while running them for exercises the next day...the crazy man) with our 40 pound backpacks. It was not a pretty sight but we made it! Puerto Rico is another pretty touristy spot but at least the view from waaaaaaay up here is beautiful. Today we walked along the coast a few towns over. It was a nice walk ...
