I woke with about four hours left to the flight, and started a biography of Theodore Roosevelt, one of the heroes of my youth. Today I met up with Hayline for lunch in Port Louis. She is my best long time school friend. It was really nice to see her and to catch up with her especially when we have kept in touch during all those years especially now with Skype. ... who wear British-style uniform, in the buses which are throwbacks to England 1960. We saw very few black people.

Hindu temples are common. They outnumber Christian churches and mosques (the dawn call to prayer in Mahebourg was the most beautiful I've ever heard). A feature of Mahebourg was the number of roadside shrines dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Votive candles were burning in some. Reminiscent of Venezuela.

Anthony left Grain de Sable in Rodriguez and we jumped ships and went with John and Nat on Millennium over to Mauritius. Quite a bigger boat that Millennium, no wonder she won.
