... of course....nobody that spoke Dutch....But after 30 minutes we sort of understood what where and why and pushed the right buttons and got our tickets. Cool, now find the platform and thank God it was not busy at all at 8 in the morning. But found it and off we went to the Asukasa area were the Hostel would be. From the sub a little walk and yep, found the Hostel, Khao San Tokyo. The ""finest"" in Tokyo....or so..??!¿¿!! As we arrived at 8.45 and a night ...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan paulyandblondy... temple hopping, Geisha spotting and just all round awesome.

So, lets fill in the gaps;

After accidentally sleeping in the next day after our last blog, we made our way over to South East Kyoto, where we somehow managed to visit four temples and Kyoto's downtown district, Gion, in around five hours. Five hours, you say? It may not seem like that much of a grand effort, but it is said that some people can only do two temples in one day. Its hard to not find your self ...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan missface... or other such instruments of war on the wall thrown in for good measure. The view from the top, however, was a truly spectacular sight. I simply cannot fathom, given the technology of the time, how such a structure came to be.

Such nonsense aside, everything thus far in the trip became immediately irrelevant as we headed to Sapporo for this years fifty-ninth annual Snow Festival. For those not aware of Japanese geography, this would mark our trip to the third of the four ...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan tomfonder... was bustling with people, half of them being women in dresses hopping from shindig to shindig. We looked for a place to eat with a Menu that wasn't written in kana so we could remotely understand what was there. We found ourselves in a restaurant called 'Tapai' where no one spoke English. But it was still awesome.

But now, I must end abruptly for there is a line waiting for the free internet!

Rachael Out.
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan missface... our trip. This technological brilliance that all further accomplishments couldn't hope to measure up to.

But no sooner had my foot touched foreign soil was I confronted by incomprehensible delights. Changi Airport was immense, sure. It made our international airport look like a motel lobby. It was grand, spacious, extravagant. But best of all, it was home to a Burger King. For the first time in my life, I was finally in front of a branch Australian's hadn't *******ized ...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan tomfonder... master after his master had finished work every day. Even after the dog's master passed on, he still came to the train station every day until his own death, and thus they erected a statue in his honour. Although the statue that stands today is not the original due to the original being melted down for precious resources during the war, it is said to still hold great resemblence to the dog. It has since become a common meeting place for friends.
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan mataeka... on both teams. I have thought long and hard about how best to describe the fans at the game and this is what I have come up with: First, combine the eagerness and infatuation of the girls at a Beatles concert with the in-depth knowledge and intensity of the crazies at a Packers/Bears game...now, make this amalgamated fan Asian and put a small orange hand puppet on his/her hand--that is about as close as I can come to describing what I saw...maybe I will ask ...
Tokyo, Japan jmbs98... 41 yen, roughly $40.00. Much more my style! It has been another night with little sleep. The phone rang at 4:00 am and I slept very little after that. Matt has been on the computer since then and I finally got up at 6:30 am. Anyone who knows me knows this can not continue. I need sleep and lots of it. I am 54-they are 19 and 23 and we are not on an equal playing field. Hopefully we will fall into a regular routine soon.
Tokyo, Japan shewolf... and red costume. It hurt. * Shinjuku - On one side of the rail line are skyscrapers and government buildings. On the other side is Tokyo's notorious red-light district. The streets were crowded with Black suit hustlers looking for the next client. Polite nonetheless. * Akihabara - Home of the Japanese Mega Electronics store Yoshi-Akihabara. This 9 floor mothership contains every electronic imaginable. You want it? You'll find it here. I ...
Tokyo, Japan jjwong... t shed or need to be let out to pee. We met up again with Shoji and Chikako, and they took us to Yokohama to meet Shuji, another Saipan co-worker, and his two kids for dinner at a Chinese restaurant. It was great to see everybody again! Day 3: Shoji and Chikako both took the day off to show us around (what awesome hosts!). We went to Kamakura, which is southwest of Tokyo and about an hour and a half from Chiba by train. Kamakura is ...
