60th Birthday on the Ocean

... my sea legs. Even now, this late at night, the boat is starting to weave again making it hard to write this.

Started the day with breakfast buffet at the Windjammer Café. Very impressive spread. Jess and I went to the pasta demonstration while Dan and Jarod went to find the table tennis and go rock climbing. Apparently Jarod only made it half way up the wall, but I intend to encourage him to try again when Jess and I try it later this week. The four of us got ...

Stingray Welcome

On our way to the island tour, we were welcomed by a friendly stingray and gave us the experience of being suctioned by its mouth as we tried to feed him. But then, he realized that we don't have any food for him so eventually, he left but gave us the knowledge of not fearing them. They are gentle creatures of the sea.

Shark Feeding

A different kind of experience... feeding shark in broad daylight.....shoreside.....

Free port has one at Pier One, but you are like so high above the waters and in the evening. So all you are seeing are but splashes made by the shark as they feed.

Here, you will see the entire length of the shark under the very crystal clear waters, just one meter high.

Sun, Sea, Sand and Sweat in Paradise

... This was based in Governor's Harbour, a small town with a very friendly community. On Eleuthera we spent the majority of our time beach hopping around the island. The beaches there were picture perfect. Turquoise waters, soft white sand and swaying palms (sorry to make you all jealous ;-)!) For 2 days we hired a car, going south one day and north the other. It was a chevvy and automatic so took a while getting used to but was good fun. After having it for ...

Anchored at Princess Cays

We had an awesome first full day of the cruise. Woke up early so we could get over to the beach for a full day of snorkeling and we weren't let down. Bought a few packs of fish food and we had feeding frenzys around us. Unfortunately we didn't take the camera ashore.

Sun, Sea and Sand in The Bahamas

... airport and the little activity at Governors Harbour. The few houses on the way seemed deserted with a few locals playing cards or drinking booze in the shade. Once we arrived we were treated to one of those paradise moments where a vision of a massive deserted beach with beautiful turquoise blue waters rolling delicately in. As we set out or blanket and picnic we could see that we really were alone in this heavenly place and we loved it!! Lynsey continue ...

Exploring the Outer Islands

... conch fritters, pan fried snapper, sopadillos (a sweet fruit known as dillys for short), played cards, sunbathed, made friends, saw a band at a local hangout, danced under the stars at an after party and enjoyed cocktails with islanders and even met a rock and roll celebrity while he picked up his order of conch fritters! Oh yes and drank plenty of rum, which we bought at the local knick knack ...
