Next day we went to the Café This Way on Rodick Street to get lobster rolls. Well, we paid nearly $50 US for two lobster rolls on hot dog buns with chips (not fries) just chips. Waaaayyyyy overpriced! And again only so-so… maybe 3/5. Enough said..

They can take the park away from the tourists, but they can't take the tourists away from... Bar Harbor. Acadia too, for that matter. The various entrances are full of cars parked to the side of the "closed" signs and people are sneaking in. I haven't heard how many are getting ticketed. Everyone is pretty disgusted, as are we. This was a big draw for me, it looks so cool on the map. What a location! No wonder the Rockefellers, ...
... and can’t discuss with Mr Fletche until we watch Series 3!). The room is freezing, until we discover the heating controls on the wall. Within 5 minutes, the room is toasty warm. Within 10 minutes the room is like a sauna and we are shedding clothes (stop it with those smutty remarks!) and opening windows.
We cannot laze around here all day, and at least the rain has finally stopped. We drive back into the park to catch sunset ...
... coves and inlets and harbors tucked in here and there that were nice to see. I took the short walk to a view of Bass Harbor Lighthouse, which was pretty to see on the rocky Maine coast. Then I found a nice trail called Ship Harbor, and it followed the shore of a small inlet and loops back through the Maine forest. It was a beautiful hike! When I reached the point where the ocean enters the harbor, I just sat for awhile on the rocky coast. ...
... one from the top was a thrilling experience!
From there, we went to Bar Harbor and checked in at the Central House, which has been welcoming guests since 1887! Delightfully comfortable and nicely updated, it was a good home base for our night without the "home"!
Once we were checked in, we took off for our first look at Acadia National Park, a beautiful, rugged national park.
