Not that he spotted me making my escape anyways!<br><br>Back in the heat again<br><br>I arrived back in warmer climates at Papet'te airport on the main Tahiti island where I'd spend the night before making my way over to Mo'orea in the Society islands. Somehow I expected it to be like Bali or Vietnam and be lept upon by people selling me stuff - so I already was one guard and ready to fend them off. Too ready ...

... up on that idea. So we had decided that we would write today off as a new experience and hope tomorrow would be better, with a few less mosquito bites. We chilled out around the bungalow, listening to music and making ourselves feel clean and fresh again. ... and less hustle and bustle. We didn't really take in any of Papeete next day and went straight to the dock for the ferry. We had read that Tahiti itself didn't have as much to offer so we took the advice and ran. Moorea was definitely what we were looking for from French Polynesia. We had always intended this part of our trip to be a bit of a buffer to relax and unwind from all the travel of south America. This would be the first time we would actually spend a week in one place ...

... und Xose bestellte sich einen Campari. Die Bedienung machte ihn dann darauf aufmerksam, das Campari nicht Teil des Happy Hour ist und fuer mich war es klar, dass Xose nun auf einen Cocktail ausweichen wuerde weil ja sonst das Happy Hour nicht funktionieren wuerde - und das war genau das, was ich wollte! Einmal auf dieser Insel guenstig trinken! Aber fuer Xose war das wohl kein Problem und er blieb bei dem Campari - ich weiss nicht, mit welchem Blick ich ihn angeschaut haben ...

As upon arriving at our hotel - we wer shown to our room without a word being uttered - we were left not even knowing what room number we were or what facilities were available where we were staying. Our room was a garden bunglow and was literally about 10m to the beach - absolutely stunning - with a really nice deck to sit out on - so it wasn't all bad. ... because our flight isn't unitl 11:30pm tomorrow night. Tonight we have a captains fairwell cocktail party and dinner and dancing. Should be fun. I am sooo sad to leave but I am really looking forward to getting home to everyone!!! ... other van was better. After I sent away a good 10 people, I figured I had my compensation and left, but not without putting up a sign in my hostel too. And it was like that that we left Tahiti. Beautiful, expensive Tahiti. It was a nice experience, but it's doubtful it's a place we'd return to, unless of course we win the lottery. ... took a shower and got lunch and headed back out again to mail my postcards and send off one last call to Mom and Dad before the 8 more days at sea. I bought a couple more postcards and wrote them all out and even managed to find stamps - thankfully they sell them almost everywhere in Tahiti - and got everything mailed. ... wrapped up, we heard an announcement, calling Paul to the purser's office. Did our CC# fail? we wondered. We went down, iced coffees in hand, but the man behind the desk had no idea what we were talked about. But then the head purser came by and said, "Ah, I have the materials you need" and reappeared with a UPS package. Unbelievable - major kudos to Club Bali Hai for working it all out - getting it back to Papeete, getting the ship's agent to accept it, getting it ...
