This morning we went to Yangshuo Cooking School. First up they took us to the markets.
All sorts of weird and wonderful sights. We stayed away from the dog section.
Lot tie cooked some lush egg dumplings.
Whilst Anthony was so good he used two woks at once!
Look how proud he is of the feast he prepared.
Afterward, we headed to West Street, the High Street...
This morning we said goodbye to Hei Hei (The dog at Moon resort).
And we headed out on foot to climb up the famous Moon Hill.
We made it to the top! It was pretty hard work in the heat but worth it.
On top of moon hill there were some rock climbers. Two guys, one from the states the other from Tasmania were cliimbing some pretty insane routes up the side of the moon shaped part of Moon Hill..... Crazy!!
We left Adelaide more than 45min late but with plenty of time between flights it wasn't much of a problem. The new AsiaX flight from Melbourne was very nice, brand new and TV monitors on the back of each seat to keep you occupied for the 8/9hr flight. We arrived in KL on time at 7:20am and made our way to the Brisdale hotel in the Chow Kit market area. I mean right in the middle of the Market. We meandered our way through the back streets to the hotel entrance. The Brisdale is very nice and t...
Yangshuo, Guangxi Zhuang, China luvlifetravelAround Yangshuo - So what did we do while in Yangshuo ?..... Our first full day was spent riding bikes along the Yulong river and what a day it was :-) This part of the world is great. ( Weather could have been betta ) The Yulong is sourrounded by giant limestone krasts and small villages dotted all along it. The small road off of the main highway turns into a mud track through rice paddies and old buildings. My bike pedal broke which turned out to be a small blessing in discise as we got to ...
Yangshuo, Guangxi Zhuang, China luvlifetravelVietnam was full of karsts but we departed earlier than intended so the Guilin area of southern China was our last chance to see karst scenery in asia. We decided to fly from Changdu to Guilin, as it would have taken a day and a half to go by train/bus. After reading about the touts in Guilin, we decided to bypass the city and splurge for a direct taxi (260Y) from the airport to our guesthouse outside the small city of Yangshuo. We woke up late to the sound of many wasps (or hornets) buzzing ...
Yangshuo, Guangxi Zhuang, China oulousToday Wei Wei arranged for me to go to Yingping to take a boat ride on another river, the Li River. Her husband drove me to town and told me which bus to board to get to Yingping. The bus is a basic commuter bus that is set up with cushioned seats, all facing front (Greyhound-style as opposed to CTA-style). Right behind the driver was a small platform for passengers to place their stuff with a raised section on one side. Luckily I got a seat because... As the passengers continued to board the...
Moon Hill Village, Guangxi Zhuang, China squigglytea A farm village in China is several centuries behind the hustle and bustle of the cities. Moon Hill "ville" is pretty typical, but it is also somewhat commercial due to the vacationers coming to see the "typical" village.
I have getting up earlier than everyone else, so I dressed, grabbed my camera, and headed out for some adventure. The path outside the door of our Moon Resort (ha!) hotel, wound through the adobe houses, and led me into a maze that where it would have been easy for me ...
... Helen, Don and Tim. We saw lots of bamboo rafts and then some "modern" rafts that look like the bamboo raft, but are made from PVC. Some guys attached to our boat (it was moving at a good pace, I am not sure how they managed) to sell us some jade. Bill spotted some wild goats high on one hill. We saw some cormorants, ducks, water buffalo, fishermen and a dead floating pig. From time to time Aida would come along and point out the major sites - Yearning for Husband Rock (it ...
Yangshuo, Guangxi Zhuang, China theresabill... out to dinner. We found this delicious resturant, and sat outside. We had this pumpkin dish, eggplant dish, greens, and caramalized taro for dessert. Along with rice. They are both vegetarian, and I had no problem eating that way, especially after our market visit earlier. We walked around West Street for a bit; it is the popular street to go to at night with all the food vendors, bars, boutiques, and corner markets with jewelry and neat things. We went back to the hotel and all got ...
