We thought we were pretty good at catching trains. This morning we managed to catch the wrong one which set us back a couple of hours. Quite a few train changes required in our trip to the Izu peninsula which is (normally) a couple of hours south of Tokyo. We packed up our gear and I'm glad we took the approach of having a base for a week and doing day trips, rather than packing up an switching accommodation every day or two. Yuko and Chiyoko met us a little later. It was great to see Riko and Chiyoko - they have grown so much and they are developing into such beautiful young girls. We got into Yuko's car and she drove for about 30 minutes to a beautiful new hotel called Teranomon Hills, the ...

... to the cloudy weather the view from the top wasn't so special, but just walking along the rim of a vulcano is something well worth the trip. In the crater itself you could shoot bow & arrows, though due to the strong winds no one seemed to be tempted to try.

All in all it was a great weekend-plus-a-day. Back in Tokyo, I thought "I'm glad that I can sleep in my own bed tonight". Hah, my OWN bed. Well, that's definitely a first! ...
