... to the area around the Palace. This is a lovely part of town, palace similar to Buckingham Palace in appearance. Had a wide open roadway in front of it and looked on to a large park that went through to another (smaller) palace that we think was home to either the president of Belgium or the EU as both flags were flying there and it is called the Palais de la Nation. ... off with the 11am walking tour. It was a fun tour, taking us through the history and interesting stories that Belgium has to offer. Highlights include seeing the Manneken Pis, which is a national symbol. The little statue of a boy peeing has its origins in representing the location that the poor could come and sell their urine to the tanning industry. However as time changes the statue became very popular and people loved it. The one in place now however is not ...
