... After checking out we made our way to the train station planning to get a train to Verona. Our plan didn't quite work out as the next train was in 2 hours. Luckily the buses were more accepting of our limited time to see Verona and we were able to get on one almost straight away. After leaving our bags at Verona train station we got a 10 minute bus to Verona centre. In this time I managed to lose my sunglasses:( Calculated we had 2 hours to ...

... the bus back, that we are on now, we had to pay for! Lucy, who had budgeted 20€ for the next few days, was not pleased. Writing this later: We agreed it would be a good idea to do the free pasta cooking class at the hostel. Pasta is not too hard to make we learnt- mix eggs and flour, then roll it out and then cut it into strips. Sounds like it would take no time at all. However with a group of 30 that all had to one-by-one use the pasta mangle, which ...

Update on last night: Had a really nice meal out which started with a glass of prosecco because we had to wait a couple of a minutes for an outside table. Lucy, Katie and I shared pesto pasta and a margherita pizza. Really nice. After the meal we waited for our friends from Berlin to join us. Little did we know that they were coming from the other side of Venice to see us and we were meeting them in a bar basically below our hostel. Emma's ...

I don't want to leave Verona specifically because of the air conditioning. Did something really stupid. I decided to walk to the train station. I thought if I walked slowly it would be okay. Not a good idea. Very hot. I watched a bit of the Italian TV news and I think they were saying most of Europe is experiencing a heat wave. I'm counting the seconds until I board the train. AND guess what? Now that I'm on board the ...

... I decided to purchase my ticket for the opera and then my first seafood since our first night in Greece. As for the opera, what can I say. Fantastico! Stupendo!! You get the idea. Very unusual set design and a beautiful ballet to begin with the overture. Even understood some of the Italian and a spectacular ending with fireworks. An enthusiastic burst of applause from the audience. The only negative was the heat, otherwise ...
