... we had to come back next week for results. We went to a few shops to check where we could buy an air mattress in case we needed one. We finally found one at the Homepro part of Big C middle road ! We also went to buy a ceiling ventilator as we thought it would be a good idea instead of the airco at night. We'll try to get Mr Xu to install it while we're in Koh Chang ... 17th and 18th As we're not allowed to swim for a week we try to ...

The first night out, we were scared. Baz took us under his wing, and before we knew it we were in a go-go bar! Haha had to experience it and we were all drunk, the 'walking street' was just full of them!!!

We caught a Baht Bus up the main road - the Baht Buses have taken over from the traditional tuk tuks for local transport (there ...

... bit of a rush as we were weaving through the streets of Pattaya, and this was not an encouraging sign. When we hit the main roads it got even worse. The bloke was driving like an absolute maniac; overtaking on blind corners or summits, weaving through the traffic in any lane including the hard shoulder, totally erratic braking and we all seriously thought we were going to die. We met a really nice English chap on the bus, Ashley, who worked in Thailand and spoke ...

... one day I had somehow managed to reduce two Thai people to tears. Perhaps not my most successful day?

Thursday was our day off and a few of us had been invited to lunch at one of the volunteers, Keith's house. An English retiree who lives in Thailand now, Keith lives a few miles out of Pattaya in an upscale gated community; the house was beautiful, and it was like being in a Thai version of one of the communities I had spent so long reasearching ...
