... seem to speak some English, but they are delighted when do don't have to - RESPECT! Yay Kate! Very warm welcomes and huge smiles seem to be the default attitude here. Although it's hot - about 30 degrees each day we were here - the city has thousands of trees and gorgeous shady squares where the temperature drops by 10 degrees and a refreshing breeze cools the happy flaneur at every turn ....oh joy and rapture ...

... could see all manner of airlines flying into the tourist town of Faro, (where all the resorts are) about 20 or 30 kms away.

It is a lovely town with lots of narrow winding streets. There seems to be a bit of an Indian presence here - Indian restaurants and shops - and they seem to use the place name "Goa" a lot in their advertising, Goa being a Portuguee colony on the Indian sub continent a long time ago.

... The street was full of People, mainly families all sitting around eating, drinking and generally enjoying life. Australia could learn so much from the Spaniards. Streets full of tables, chairs and people. Couldn't help wondering whether the local councils in Spain have the same approach as our councils back home, I think not. A shared meal of 5 or 6 tapas, 2 beers and 2 wines cost a total of €23 (about $30). I'm thinking Spain is an OK ...
