... of youth culture. Much like Time Square in New York .... lots of lights and lots of shops. There were thousands of people on the streets. Went to a fantastic noodle shop for dinner ... had an udon noodle bowl with a soft boiled egg. Also ate some deep fried noodle snack. It was all delicious.
Stopped at Starbucks again before cathcing the subway home.
Sorry not able to load any pictures today .. will put some up as soon as I can.
... have a place to sleep that night, with beds, down comforters, and even our own bathroom. I even got the top bunk! It was such a welcome change from the internet café and the karaoke bar, we gladly went straight to sleep. It was another early start the next morning; we were eager to see as much of Nagasaki as we could before we had to head back to the ship, as it was our last day in Japan. We caught the trolley over to the area of town where the Atomic bomb had been dropped ...
Osaka, Kinki, Japan bridgetbomhack...
... Great Barrier Reef, the awesome power of the volcanoes of Rapaul, Papua New Guinea; we were equally impressed with these places that were saved from ancient Japan. We were back on the bus and headed back to the ship. Our tour was coming to a close. We were wet from the day, but we did not think about the weather as we had many images still swirling in our minds of Osaka. The weather was improving and only occasionally sprinkled by the time we arrived back on the ...
Osaka, Japan danharrietI am tired. Actually I'm beyond tired. I have no idea how or why I'm sitting here writing this blog, but I am. But today was a great day. Today was Universal Studios Osaka, and it has been another day that I would estimate that we have walked 12km+. Started off with the usual routine. Veronica goes downstairs with Charlotte for weird rice balls and miso soup, while Angela and I stay in the room. Angela watches (and now ...
Osaka, Kinki, Japan apat... sauce, mayo, and sprinkled with fish flakes. Then, we talked and caught up on old times.. after that, we rode the train up to Umeda to ride the giant HEP5 building ferris wheel--it's a giant red ferris wheel up on the 8th floor of a skyscraper in Osaka. We took the 8 minute ride, admiring the view of the city and the area all the way over the harbor--through the rain, but it was still a great night view nonetheless. Then, we wandered around the back alleys of Umeda ...
Osaka, Japan audrangea... of them always wants to do stuff together (like go out for coffee, eat, drink and be merry). He also speaks the best English out of any of my teachers (more on that later!). so that always makes it easy. Third, the students are wonderful, as most of them are mature students (I'm talking in their 60s and 70s!). Also I sleep there. Haha. So I teach from 1 -2 30 and then don't have class again until 530. So, in between (If I'm not out eating with that teacher) I'm sleeping on the leather sofa ...
Osaka, Japan sophiemaranda... wood homes now stores and restaurants for the many local tourists. Temples are everywhere and include a small fee at most. My favorite was Regeo-in, the temple is the longest in Japan made of Irimoya (hip and gable) and honkawarabuki (fired clay roof) filled with 1001 individually carved and life size wood Kannons (gods of mercy). The famous 2 guards missha-kongo, one with his mouth closed - to stop evil from entering and ...
